I used to live in Prague so my vote is for Prague. I don’t know any specific hotels since I lived there aaaages ago when I was a kid, but the winters are fairly mild. It’s a beautiful city.

@Weebagpuss:  i’ve been to both, i currently live close to Vienna and although it is a beautiful city, especially around Christmas with all the markets, it is BRUTALLY cold in the winter. i’m talking -10 degrees celsius. i think Prague is warmer, and it’s just as lovely, so I would probably recommend Prague.

OMG that’s a tough choice!! I personally liked Prague a little better than Vienna, but I got an awful ear infection right when I got to Vienna so it was hard to enjoy. Are you interested in German/Austrian food and culture (Vienna) or more Eastern European food and culture? They both have beautiful gardens and castles/historic buildings to visit. Vienna is more spread out, so Prague might be cozier in the wintertime. (I was there in the summer, though.) I think eating some goulash in a cozy old restaurant in Prague in the winter sounds perfect 🙂
