We are cosidering Riviera Maya for our honeymoon.
People seem to have concerns about us going there because of the drug war
(which I have some concerns about but I know it is going on more in border cities and is an issue in this area but not as extreme), water/food making them sick.
Please tell me about your experience.

Miss Meerkat is having her destination wedding there. She might be a good resource: http://www.weddingbee.com/author/meerkat/

Yes..been there..stayed at the Excellence..great time..food was very good for an all inclusive – didn’t get sick at all – I rated it much higher than the Dominican Republic food (which made us sick and was inedible)…not too sure about the drug war stuff..

Stayed at El Dorado Royale 2 years ago (in November) and it was wonderful. Went with a girlfriend but very much a couples’ resort. Most people we met were either getting married or on their honeymoon.

We stayed at Secrets Capri for our honeymoon. It was amazing and we’d go again in a heartbeat! The resort was so awesome and very secure. We left the resort for an excursion in Playa Del Carmen, and never felt at risk.

I was there in April of this year. We traveled to Playa Del Carmen and the Mayan Ruins and never felt unsafe. It was such a great time. We stayed at the Catalonia Royal Tulum and have an awesome time.
