My SIL did and it was really rough. Even having the smallest amount of butter on her morning toast would send my niece into hysterics. She pretty much stuck to meat, meat and meat. She got a heck of a lot of protein during those few months.

Well, I was vegan before getting pregnant, so I did the no dairy (although NOT the no soy). My best advice is that it will be much, much easier to deemphasize dairy from your diet in general, rather than to substitute because truth be told, substitute dairy just ain’t the real thing and a lot of them contain soy. 

So, I know it sounds a bit crazy, but I would recommend exploring some of the eating habits/recipes of the vegan and/or macrobiotic diets because those don’t use a lot of dairy. Vegan will use soy, but you don’t have to. Here are a couple of things that I enjoyed for breakfast:

Breakfast smoothies, made with frozen fruit and unsweetened vanilla almond milk (you can add agave syrup as a sweetner (or sugar))

Steel-cut oatmeal with dried or fresh fruit and almond milk

Veggie omelets (not vegan, but you can have eggs, right?); veggie scrambles

Rice, miso soup, greens (very macrobiotic!). 

Ezekial breads (or sourdough) with Tofutti Better than Cream Cheese (check this to see if it’s got soy) and jam. You can also do peanut butter or just jam or fruit butters or hummus…
