I bought three wedding dresses online one of which was through recycledbride.  I would suggest buying it as close to your size as possible.  You may still want to have it altered but it will keep the same basic shape this way.  Sites like recycled bride do not have payment areas attached to them so I reccommend using paypal.  This way if there is a problem (ie: the dress is not as described or they end up not sending the dress) you have a way to get your money back.  Just an extra layer of security there.  I bought three dresses because I really didn’t know what I was looking for or how certain shapes looked on my body.  I recommend going to a dress shop or two to try on different styles so you don’t have to buy 3 dresses like I did. 🙂

I am all for internet shopping, just be careful and you are good to go.

I purchased two wedding dresses from a boutique that advertises on recycled bride.  The boutique also had a 3 day return policy which was more than enough time to try on the dress and return if it didn’t meet my expectations.(I returned my first dress and just had to pay for shipping but they shipped my 2nd dress for free)Used Paypal but many boutiques will allow escrow.com as well which is added security.

I would have a tailor measure you so you know your exact size.  Its easier to take in a dress than take out because they only give you 2 inches to work w/.  You should also check out pre-ownedweddingdresses.com.  Individuals and small boutiques will advertise through pre-owned as well as recyceledbride and oncewed.

Once you do find your dress, you will need to have find an independent seamstress to complete any alterations.  I’m currently altering my dress.

Good Luck!!!
