We did one that was church-based and we LOVED it.  It wasn’t a “retreat” in that it was fun and restful.  It was a retreat in that it was time devoted to working on our relationship and thinking about a life-long commitment.  I loved it.  If you are interested in what we did (it’s Catholic based but you don’t have to be Catholic to attend, and also they don’t push Catholic doctrine on you at all), PM me and I can give you the info.  They have the same kind all over the country.

I know people who have gone on marriage retreats and loved it. I always thought premarital counseling was just done privately with a church and a pastor (which is what we we’re planning on doing), now I may have to look into a retreat. What one did your friend go on?
