So, Ive been reading up on a few thing things and Im hearing that its somewhat customary that the bride normally cuts her hair after returning from the honeymoon. I guess this is for a new start?? IDK. LOL Have any of you heard of this before? Are you cutting your hair?

@Kamazing: I’ll probably cut my hair because I’m growing it out for the wedding (almost a year away) and the length is already bugging me! I’m used to my hair just above my shoulders but I wanted to grow it out to give myself more options for the wedding.

Im cutting off my hair after mostly because I am growing out for the wedding and I can only stand having it long for so long… But to tell you the truth I am ready to cut it now… lol

I am! I’m actually cutting it before the honeymoon (we’re leaving on Tuesday, so I’ll be running errands/packing and getting my hair cut on Monday). I don’t know that it’s customary or symbolic – for me it’s just that I’m already so sick of dealing with my long hair that I’m looking forward to something sassy and easier to take care of. I’ll be cutting it in a chin length bob, something like this:

ohhh okay, so maybe THATS why most women are cutting it afterwards, because they have been growing it for so long.

@SadieBee: oh wow..thats a cute cut!! Keep me posted on how it turns out!

I typically keep my hair very short and cropped, but some family members have kind of demanded that I grow it out for the wedding and it is one of the concessions that I’m willing to make to keep them off my back. I’m thinking about getting my hair cut as soon as the salon opens on the spa.

@Kamazing: Yep, I think that is totally the reason. I know it is for me – I’m probably going to cut it and dye it blond – the idea of a year ahead of me with just one hair color is already killing me lol

I wanna cut mine too i’ve also been growing it for ages and its getting unmanageable! I feel like it takes an hour to wash and by then im too lazy to actually comb it lol so it pretty much lives in a bun on my head! Im wearing it down for the wedding though… Everytime i talk about cutting it my Fiance tells me not too or he will grow his out super long lol and his head is shaved.

I’ve been growing mine out for a year+ in order to have more style options for the wedding. But I HATE my hair when it’s long – it’s very fine and thin, so when it gets long, it’s super weighed down and limp and just nasty looking. For this reason, I’m hoping to get a hair cut the morning after the wedding, right before we leave for our honeymoon!

I was thinking of cutting it off, I love long hair, but it’s driving me crazy!! :S lol

I just cut my hair. My wedding was in August (with a vow renewal in Oct due to the hurricane!) I took about 8 inches off! I had been waiting for my wedding to take place and as soon as I could, I cut my hair! I miss being able to just throw my hair up, but my new style is fun! It will just take some time to get use to. I cut it similar to the picture below. Good luck! 😉

I grew my hair long but it was not specifically for the wedding.
but it was looking stringy, so the haircuts have been happening in phases: the first post-wedding cut, I just wanted some layers, so I had a more interesting style. I ended up with something that resembled a long mullet 🙁
so I got it cut again just past my shoulders. that didn’t entirely solve the bad haircut. so now I have a hankering to get a bob. once I start to crave a haircut, I can’t stop thinking about it until I actually do it!

I sooooo wanted to cut it. I even had the urge to get up the morning after the wedding and find a salon that was open on a Sunday morning to cut it before my honeymoon cruise. But I didn’t. and then when I got back to Boston I realized that winter was not the best season to have short hair so I just cropped off my sad split ends.
It was funny to see the look of disappointment my Darling Husband had when I got home and still had my shoulder length hair. I guess he wanted me to come back with a short and sassy look!
