We’ve always wanted to do our honeymoon in Italy & Spain. Anyone have any tips?
We’re thinking we should go through a travel agent, although normally we never use agents & wing it when it comes to vacations (travelocity & southwest rewards anyone?)… How much should we budget for? We aren’t millionaires either (or even close), so nothing over the top. $2000? $5000? Way out of our league?
When is best to visit? We were thinking of August, for our one-year anniversary, but now we’re discovering that is the European ‘holiday’ season. Is there a better/different time of year to go?
How long is an ideal trip? 10 days?
What should we do? I’d love to hear your experiences & suggestions! Thanks bees! 🙂

I’ve been when it wasnt a honeymoon.
It can be hot in the summer and humid…with lack of ACs….
But I went in October…great time to go! Not too cold nor too hot….a bit warm….:)
Spring would also be good.
I think I paid at least a few thousand dollars…..
We went to Rome, Pompeii(naples area), and Tuscany(to the medieval town my grandpa was born in)
I heard Venice is romantic, Florence and Pisa are also good trips.
My favorite place believe it or not, was the Vatican of all places! Pompeii was also cool….

July and August are the times when Europeans go on holiday most, so prices are higher in general. I would go into just ‘off’ season, September, and youll get better prices. Mid to late would be best I think but the wether will be much the same as August.
We are also going on Honeymoon in Sept to Italy.
Havent booked anything yet but excited nevertheless!

We are going to Italy & Spain for our honeymoon and leave October 4 and used a travel agent. She suggested a Mediterranean cruise so we did not have to pack/unpack and it allows us to see multiple cities.
Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy
Tunis (La Goulette), Tunisia
Florence/Pisa (Livorno), Italy
Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy
The total cost ended up being $5,000- flights were $2k, the cruise (lodging/food) was $2k and we decided to extend in Rome a couple of days so that added $1k to the budget in transportation, hotel stay and meals.
The travel agent helped us get our room upgraded for free from an oceanview to a balcony- which is awesome.

Sounds like our plans for our next international vacation! Should be amazing. You’ll probably expect to spend around $6,000 for airfare, lodging, food and entertainment for 10 days to two weeks.
