@MrsBrightSkies: LOL, “morph into a sex goddess”, I’m with you on that.

I’m trying to add some running back into my exercise schedule, but how does that work along with a full time job, planning a wedding (which is totally another full time job), and 60-90 minutes of Tony Horton’s cheesy comments?

My fiance and I are working through P90X together, and we always laugh when he does like two pushups and then says “I could do these all day, but I’ve gotta check on the kids!” then he walks around and points at the different people and how awesome they are, and only joins back in for the last three pushups. Then it’s “WHOO!! Now that’s a workout!”

@Mrs.Oat: I am with you, Tony cracks me up.  I just finished my Core Synergistics for the day, and I love how on the Superman/Banana roles he says “I would totally do this, but I have this pack on”.  My all time favorite though…Shoulders & Arms… Tip of the Day, Don’t smash your face (on the lying down tricep raises).  Tony cracks me up…

Keep me posted on your results, I would love to share the journey!

I finished the full P90X program about a month ago.  It was discouraging at first because I gained a few pounds before I started losing.  That must be because you gain a lot of muscle.  It also wasn’t until phase 3 that I started seeing any weight loss.  By the end of the 90 days I had lost 10 pounds.  That doesn’t sound like a whole lot but what I did appreciate was how I felt.  Tony Horton is a nut and has made me feel super strong.  I actually have muscles and definition and it is great.  I think it is great for some good girl power!  I am starting another round on Monday.

P90X takes such a commitment but I totally think it is worth it.  I am going to do doubles with this one because I do want to lose more weight this go round.  Moral of the story: I love P90X πŸ™‚

@jessjess: Thanks for the encouragement!!  And way to go!!  I am doing the Lean program as I wanted more cardio, but I am hoping that I still get some definition out of it by the end, and hope to keep going as a regular lifestyle change after finishing the 90 days.  The one place I am seeing results after 3 weeks is my arms.  See ya later granny arms… πŸ™‚

@jessjess: Thanks for posting, that is SO encouraging! I didn’t initially gain any weight, but I am definitely just holding steady. I took a “before” picture and another at 30 days, and saw no difference, so it’s been pretty hard to keep going. Now I’m definitely sticking around for Phase 3.

@MrsBrightSkies: Awesome, don’t give up! I’ll let you know when I discover a muscle in my arm, because so far I’m not seeing any πŸ™‚

@Mrs.Oat: We’ll keep each other motivated. πŸ™‚

I am dreading my 30 day pics…taking them next weekend.  Is it fair if I suck it in??? πŸ™‚

Are you also tracking your measurements.  I anxious to see if any inches have fallen off.

I’m curious about it… I’ve been a regular gym rat for YEARS and just fell off the wagon in the last six months. In my experience “muscle confusion” gets great results. I can no longer affort a trainer and I feel like I’m wasting my gym membership, so I almost want to get P90X and a Kinect and move my ass at home. Buuuuut the TV room doesn’t get a lot of light, which is a bummer. At least it stays cool in the summer time, though.

And LADIES. You won’t bulk up! It’s a myth. I’ve lifted HARD for years and I couldn’t bulk up if I tried. Well, maybe if I took some steroids. You’ll only look sexier with more muscle!

And expect to gain weight if you don’t have a lot of fat to lose… muscle will tip the scales upward.

The best way to track progress is 1) with measurements and 2) with body fat calculations. DO NOT TRUST those “fancy” scales. They are notoriously inaccurate, especially for athletic women. In large part, their measurements depend on how hydrated you are. If you can, get a hydrostatic (dunk tank) test every 6 months. They give you so much great information and are incredibly accurate. Plus, it’s a fun metric. IIRC, they cost about $50. We have a truck that goes around to gyms in Seattle. If you can’t do that, have someone skilled give you a caliper (pinch) test. It’s not as accurate, but better than the stupid scales in my experience.

I’ve been doing P90x, and I love it!  I really feel like it’s challenging, and I feel great after I do each exercise.

I haven’t really lost weight according to the scale, but I can tell I look different.  I’m only in my 3rd week right now, and I can already tell a difference.  My face looks thinner, and my arms have a lot more muscle than they did before.

I did P90x a while back too.  It definitely works.  You just have to be committed to doing it every time.

@CookieBee: I felt the exact same way the first week, but now in week four I am able to hang with the videos.  I imagine the first week of each phase will be that way, but I wouldn’t worry about not matching the folks on the screen exactly, or getting as many reps, etc.  That is the approach I took, and hoping it works in the end.

@CookieBee: Have you tried Power 90, the re-p90x workout?  I have friends that LOVE it.  It isn’t quite as intense, and might be just the right thing!
