Has anyone done the Harmony or MaterniT21 tests? I am trying to decide if I should opt for these over the NT scan. We may have to pay out of pocket for these tests, which we are fine with. I want to go with the most accurate one and I am so confused right now!
Any experience/ advice?

@Pinkypez: I did the Harmony and don’t regret it! I think between the Harmony and MaterniT21 the accuracy is very similar, so I’d just go with whichever your lab performs (my lab only does the Harmony) or whichever is cheaper (would have been MaterniT21 for me, but due to my lab I had to do the Harmony anyways). I had results back on the 7th business day. I paid for Harmony out of pocket then did the NT scan as well since it also looks for things besides Downs (early evidence of birth defects for examples) and my insurance covered it (and because I wanted to see baby!). 🙂 Good luck!!

I had the Harmony done at 10 weeks. I got the results within 6 days and I don’t regeret it. My dr warned me that insurance may not cover it and it would be a $250 charge. But in the end all I ended up paying was $15

@aalliep: Did you do it instead of the NT scan? If you dont mind sharing, what were your reasons?

@Pinkypez: are you considered high risk? is there a specific reason you want to get extra testing done?
I didi materni21 after my NT scan came out on the “higher end.” I waited 3 weeks for my results, which was torture but it turned out, everything was fine. My suggestion is to get a NT scan first, and go from there. Would you still get extra testing if you didn’t need it?
