We’re doing it this way.  I didn’t want to do parent dances at all, but it was important to my FH and his mom.  We’re thinking of doing either “Forever Young” or “Stand by Me.”

I think you can do whatever you want as far as inviting other people to the dance floor.  I’ve seen it done both ways.

My Wish by rascal flatts is a good one for both. i think its a great idea to have all four of you up there – its your wedding! do what you want.

i had my DJ cut our songs down my father/daughter dance and our 1st dance to like a minute and a half, i didnt want to be up there that long and i didnt want people to get bored

We also did an anniversary dance – had all the married couples get on the floor and then the DJ would send them off (us being first obviously) then they would call out 1 year, 2 years, 5 years. leaving the couple who has been married the longest on the floor. (my parents won by 6 months haha)

We are doing this too!  My Fiance (and myself for that matter) are not comforatble in the “spotlight” so to speak (the ceremony and our first dance is juat about all he can take and even that is pushing it LOL), so we decided to do the father/daughter & mother/son dance together as well!  I have not picked a song yet, and it is hard! I like the RF suggestions, but do you think that is appropriate for an encore wedding (both of us are 2nd timers.)

@TraceyPat: heck yeah – go read the lyrics – i think it would be perfect for an encore wedding as well.

We’re doing this too.  I barely want to be in the spot light for the first dance, much less again for another full song with my dad.  We’re not very affectionate and huggy or have ever danced together either, but I still think it’d be sweet and I want a few pics of this tradition.  We’re also probably going to use Rascal Flatts My Wish, and probably going to cut is short to just about 2 minutes.
