Best friend and bridesmaid lives in Hoboken and we are thinking of doing Running of the Brides in NYC next month. Anyone done the one in NYC? Opinions? We are thinking of going around 10 after the initial rush. Should we wait til later? Going dress shopping at the end of the month, but after watching a clip on Oprah about the Boston one, thought it would be fun to do. Anyone else doing it? I do not have high expectations, but thought it would be fun to do and get some ideas…and hey maybe find the one.
I live in the DC area and the one up here is in late April and wanted to have my dress before then. I am getting married 11/5/11.
Any advice or thoughts appreciated.

I went to the Running of the Brides in Boston last fall. We decided to miss the rush and went around 1 in the afternoon. There were still a ton of dresses and people were pretty calm. Just don’t forget to bring a mirror! We didn’t even think of that and luckily found a group of girls who were just leaving and left us theirs… I think you just have to go with the attitude of “if I find a dress – great! But, if its not “the one” then I can still shop.” I ended up getting a second dress after the one I bought at the running of the brides – but it wasn’t a huge hit to the wallet since my first dress was only $250! Good luck!

Last year I stopped by the one in NYC, like really late with an hour or two before closing and there were TONS of dress left. I would NEVER dare to go to one of those things in the middle of the madness, I don’t care how much money there is to be saved.

Thanks girls! Glad to talk to people who have done it!
Think we will go around 11. Now if I can only figure out how the two of us are going to ride public transit to get there with a mirror. Might look into taking the ferry over!
