I haven’t done mine, but I know what I’m doing.  I wanted something a bit creative and since I am not having a wedding party, I decided they did not need a lot of space for wording. I am having an “adventure” themed wedding with lots of old maps, etc so I ordered 100 working compasses for about $30 online in bulk and im going to tie them with a tag that annouces who are officient is (he’s a family friend and this is a suprirse for the guests) and who is doing the reading at the wedding.

I think programs are a great chance to get creative b/c honestly not everyone reads them. I wish they did – i know i do, but I asked and most people have told me that they don’t :/

If you want some ideas (paper format or not) and have a theme/concept to share, I’d be happy to brainstorm.

I did a fan. Its always warm in our church and I andted a fan and didnt want programs but decided a program on a fan would be neat! I had the card stock left over from the invitations so all I needed was popcicle sticks πŸ™‚

@Kelsikay:  it really wasnt to bad, I liked it because it was something I could DIY, I have tons of card stock and nice white paper so it worked.  I used a template but sort of modified it for what I thought.  If you would like it I could send it over.  I had a papercutter from another project and just lined up the lines and cut.  Then I stacked them up and stapled.  I have read other bees using glue but staples made more since (i tend to burn myself with the glue gun more often then not) i used some scrapbooking glue (like zots but a line runner) to hold the white pages to the red card stock.  used my 3 hole punch by moving the middle punch to one side and punched away.  then tied ribbons.  for 90 programs it probably will take about 4 hours start to finish.  I have been doing things in stages and working when I have time.  Its been easy but now that Im typing seems time consuming lol.

Do you have a theme? Not necessarily a literal one but a “concept or a feel” – do you have a certain type of flower or a logo or stamp or a symbol you’re using over and over again? These things are a great starting point to brainstorm for what to do with your programs.

I love the idea of hanging something from the chair. If you’ve got a vintage theme, what about a fan that can hang delicately and then, when opened, has the words on it you need to say?

If it’s a hot day, putting a waterbottle on each chair with the words of your program written on the label can be super fun. I also know a way to make a “hanging tag” that goes on to the water bottle (like you see at hotels when they warn you that the bottle costs $4). You could do that and put your program on that tag, with the water bottle label being your names or wedding date.

Tell me about your wedding and we can keep brainstorming. πŸ™‚

@faeriegirl05:  Love these! I ordered similar ones from a shop on Etsy. Horrible troubles! Wedding is 4 weeks away and still no programs! Not even a final proof! I posted on it last night. So upset…

I made ours using our monogram in purple and the logo of our venue on linen paper (which I had bought for printing my resume). Just a simple half sheet with our names, date, venue and the words to our group reading. Took 20 minutes to design, and I cut the sheets using a paper cutter. I guess it’s not a “program” in the traditional sense, but it works since our guests won’t need to know much of anything else about the order of things, and we needed to have the text of the reading ready for everyone.

I have designed and printed ours but I haven’t put them together yet.  BIG project.  Maybe this week and next weekend.  ugh….

I’m pretty happy with the way they are turning out.  I copied the graphic from our invitations and even though it isn’t HIGH quality, it looks good enough, IMO.  I’m going to mount them on purple metallic paper and use fan sticks.  Maybe finish them off with ribbon.

Here’s an earlier picture.  I did change some things up, but it’s the same basic design.
