First a quick intro as I’m new here! My fiancé and I got engaged back in December 2010 while I was pregnancy with our daughter. We are now finally starting to plan our wedding! Although the date iby it official yet we are thinking January 25, 2014!
now, I love the idea of a winter wedding and it’s beautiful snowy magic and my fiancé has a lot of family from outside of the country that will most likely stay for at least a week and in hopes that is younger siblings can make it january worked out well because they are off from school then. Is anyone else getting all the comments about it being snowy anif what if there is blizzard? I mean yes, that is a concern and I almost decided against a winter wedding for that reason however I weighed all my optiona carefully and yes I know I will have lots of anxiety keeping an eye on the weather hoping that it is snowy, yet no storms Newark our big day. I just feel like I am just starting to plan and already getting a lo of criticism and like people won’t want to come because it is in the winter. There were even a few days I was ready to elope because I knew I couldn’t make everyone happy and this is only the start of my stress! So anyone else dealing with this??? Any tips or words of encouragement?
Thanks ladies! Looking forward to getting to know you all!

@MrsMartins: Hello. I am getting married on the same day! 🙂
I really think that you shouldnt tell everyone the details of planning YOUR wedding. Its not up to you to make ANYONE happy except for yourself, finance, and your child. If they dont like it..oh well! Just send your invites and leave it alone. if they become too vocal (like my family) just pretend not to hear them, and keep the conversations on something neutral like current events etc etc.
Contrats and good luck! I also just started planning ughhhh!!!! LOL

Yay we are date triplets! Ok so EVERYONE has a summer or fall wedding. We are unique and different, and probably the only weddings that will be happening for our families and friends during that month. The uniqueness is one of the main reasons I chose January. I also LOVE winter, I love the sparkle, I love the beauty of it. And to be honest, I live on the east coast like you (Newark, NJ?) I know you know all about the gross humidity we have to deal with in the summer, and I am not going to have a bad hair day for anyone on my wedding day! lol I am having a full winter theme wedding with all the sparkle and bling that comes with it, I can’t wait! I am doing manzanita centerpieces with hanging crystal, I am hopefully doing either a hot chocolate bar or a Smore’s bar (if it fits in my budget.) Its going to be awesome and totally different than everyone else I know. And who wouldnt want to come? Of course they will! Its a wedding, people love weddings, and its not like you are going to have your reception outside for 4 hours! lol
