Pregnant and waiting? I’ve been with my SO for 3 years, and we’re expecting our son in early October. On the 4th of July he surprised me by telling me his mother was sending his great grandmother’s 100 year old diamond ring for me! This after not so much as ring shopping, but promising “it will happen someday”. Anyways, we gave the ring to Kay’s yesterday to have the two side shanks removed, the settings polished up, and resizing. I’m crazy excited, but also crazy impatient.
It’s been very annoying still referring to him as my boyfriend when we’ve been together so long and have a family in the works, I’m just nervous that this ring won’t even be ready in time to wear it (you know, before the fingers swell up!). Also that because I know its coming, he’ll do an anti-climactic proposal. 🙁 Any other ladies expecting and waiting as well?

I’m not in the same boat, but double congrats! I think it is REALLY COOL that you are getting an heirloom ring. : ) How meaningful!

I’m very excited, and very lucky! Imagine it without the ugly colored side shanks! Haha
Can’t wait to get the final result…. Getting anxious!

@MissNanaMama: you mean you’re having them unsolder the wrap? That will look beautiful! I love heirlooms. Congrats!!

That ring is so cute! Are you planning to do anything with the stones from the wrap or the metal?
I think that regardless of the kind of proposal, you’d at least have a good story to tell your kid, he was there while his daddy proposed and you got engaged!!! 🙂

@cherriesandcream: you said: “, you’d at least have a good story to tell your kid, he was there while his daddy proposed and you got engaged!!! :)”
Not so much….
@MissNanaMama: Can’t wait to see the ring when it’s done! When is the wedding?

@cherriesandcream: Very true! We’re going to keep the side rings but the sapphires are old and shot, we probably won’t be doing anything with them.
The wedding will probably be sometime next year! I want the green light to start planning!

@MissNanaMama: aww that sucks the sapphires are old, but that ring in the middle looks so pretty and I’m a killer for heirloom rings, 100 years old! That is so cool 🙂
