I LOVE surprises.. I really do. But I seem to always ruin them one way or another as of late.
To preface: I use my FI’s computer a lot when he’s not on it. It’s super fast, he was a really comfy chair, and it has a giant monitor (he’s a geek, but I like when I get to use his new fancier things! haha). He has zero problem with this. The problem arises when we both have gmail accounts, and he never logs out of his, so when I go to gmail it often automatically loads his inbox.
Ruined surprise #1: Proposal. Had NO idea it was coming.. none. Until I got on his computer 1 day, went to check my email, and his popped up. With gmail, it shows the 1st line of the message up to a point next to the subject in the subject line. The first thing in his inbox that stared me in the face was a reply email from my parents saying “Yes you have our blessing….” My parents are deaf, which is why he emailed them, as we live 6 hours away from them & he doesn’t know sign language either. I tried to sign out as fast as i could without reading anymore of the subject line, but obviously knew what they were talking about, and freaked. I drove over to my friend’s house immediately and was shaking & couldn’t believe it, but sooo wish I would have had that reaction with him when he proposed instead of having to fake a surprise reaction 2-3 weeks later.
Ruined surprise #2: Christmas. We use the same Amazon account and it’s set up with my school email address so we get free 2 day Prime shipping. All that email gets forwarded to my gmail. FI was super excited about what he was getting me & told me not to open any emails from Amazon. Got 2 that just said Your order has been shipped in subject line, easily deleted, had no idea what they were. Then, of course the big thing ships with an email saying “Your order of Apple iPod nano pink 8gb has been shipped” ugh. Surprise ruined again. I feel like maybe I should have tried to only look at the sender & delete if it was from Amazon, but it’s hard not to automatically read the subj line when it pops up in your box.
Ruined surprise #3: Again with Fiance not logging out of his email, haha, asked if I could jump on to get something out of my email to print (Our printer is only hooked up to his) & he told me to go for it. Hadn’t logged out of his email, and the only thing in the inbox, staring me in the face, was an email from my mom & I saw something about the bridal shower being March 13. FI had been acting sneaky on the phone with his sister, 1 of my BMs, the other night so I knew something was being arranged, I just didn’t know what! Apparently either my mom or someone else in my family is planning a surprise shower for me during my spring break from grad school.
I love being surprised, but I feel like as of late I keep ruining them all! haha, anyone else feel like this happens to them?
