It’s nonsense. I always check the measurements charts before I order, just in case they’re way off the mark on their sizing!

@Cash000: Because we love to flatter ourselves! LOL. I seriously wish we were just on a measurement system. No “Gap size 8” but “Limited size 6” etc. Who has time to keep track of what runs small or large, etc?! Vanity sizing is a PITA.

I wish that clothing designers/producers and consumers would just get real, suck it up, measure their bodies, and live with it.

I know. I wish sizes were just based on measuements. I have had size 2s be too big and size 8s be a little snug. Even the sizes that supposedly ARE based on measurements (jeans!) can vary wildly. It’s so all over the place that I rarely risk buying anything online anymore. The only thing that seems consistent are bra sizes.

Even the measurements are off these days. I’ve shared charts showing this before…it’s kind of a pet peeve of mine.

Agreed!  I can’t be bothered with risking clothes not fitting anymore, and I force myself to try clothes on at the store….. and will then go back to that store just to know clothes will fit me.  However, this doesn’t always work!  I bought the same trousers in three different colours, and when I got home I realized the fabrics were all slightly different they all fit me differently!  It drives me bananas!

My husband is constantly baffled by how we women are forced to shop. I can’t buy a thing without trying it on, whereas I can go buy him pants that fit perfectly thanks to knowing measurements. He doesn’t understand how all of my clothes are different sizes. It’s absolutely ridiculous.

It’s ridiculous.  I have to try everything on.

It’s even getting bad for guys now – Fiance tried on three pairs of jeans on Saturday, all marked 33/34 loose fit straight leg and each one fit differently.

Darling Husband never understands why I have to try on everything before buying it.  Women never know how things will fit!

It seems to me like “vanity sizing” is the main problem. Pants in particular are obnoxious. I used to be a fairly consistent size 6, now I’m usually a 4, and some pants I just bought are a size 2! I haven’t lost any weight, so something is clearly wrong here!

Ugh, I tried on two pairs of jeans in the SAME size from the SAME store last week and one fit and one didn’t! I mean, wtf??

There are a few women’s brands that are measured by waist and length…I’ve found those tend to fit me much better than the standard 2/4/6 sizes, anyway.
