Not in Boston, but I’ve been following the ordeal…how awful!  I’m sorry, I hope they can get everything back in order soon.  I hate boil-water advisories, but I never had to deal with one caused by something as catastrophic as what happened up there for you guys.

Yeah, this weekend was decidedy not fun. I had so many chores to do that required water that didn’t get done! We lucked out and made it to Star Market just as they were getting in a giant shipment of gallon-sized spring water jugs, though – thankfully! I’ve heard crazy stories about cops getting called to BJs and Walmart to stop people getting violent over the limited water supplies.

@ktbrady – the pipe that feeds the distrubutor for around 30 Boston neighborhoods broke and now about 2 million of us are under without sanitized water. We have untreated water that we can use for flushing toilets and minimal bathing, but we can’t use it for cooking or drinking without boiling first. So, you can imagine what a mess that is for such a huge urban area! They say it’ll be late Tues or Wed by the absolute earliest for everything to be ok again…we’ll see!

Ugh, gross! I do not know how I missed this in the news! Good luck guys – boil that water! It’s better to be safe than sorry!

I have miraculously been spared! I live in Cambridge, which is apparently the only section of the Boston area that uses its own water supply, rather than the state’s. We’ve still been pretty cautious with the tap water, though. Contaminated Charles River water…..shudder.

Yes, boiling over here.  Luckily we have the sanitize cycle on our dishwasher so that we don’t have to bleach our dishes.  Tough enough brushing teeth with bottled water — would hate to do dishes that way, too!!

@miss octopis – yes, the People’s Republic of Cambridge was so smart! Wish Brookline had done the same! 🙂 I wish I still lived in Cambridge now!

My Fiance and I drove out to Framingham to try and get water from Target but they were cleared out so we drove out to Southborough where we luckily found some packs left.  We also got big gallon jugs just to hold the water we’ve boiled.  Washing dishes with the boiled water has made us realize just how much water goes into doing dishes so I’m definitely going to try and be mindful of trying to conserve water in the future.  It’s crazy how much we rely on clean water!

P.S. We also loaded up on hand sanitizer since that’s the only way to get your hands clean after washing them.

Yes – boiling water here too!  My husband and I actually took turns pouring boiled water on each other’s hands to wash them.  Same for some pots/knives that wouldn’t work in our dishwasher w/sanitzed cycle (we don’t own bleach), and for washing fruit/vegetables/berries last night.  It’s hard to do by yourself!

we bought two 5 gallon jugs of water!  its crazy how much you rely on you tap water!  really makes you appreciative of things you might not even think of that you use every single day!  cant wait until this is over either!  🙂

I’m headed home to Boston for my bridal shower this weekend.  I hope they get the water issues sorted out before Thursday when I fly home!  In the meantime, my parents are boiling all of their water…
