Maybe your fiance has spent too much time on the ‘bee and just assumes that no woman is ever satisfied with her ring unless it can be seen from outer space?

Seriously I think that kind of second-guessing is not unusual, because it’s a big purchase, perhaps one of the most expensive things he’s ever bought, and he wants it to be perfect. He’ll settle down once he gets used to the idea and the price tag.  Don’t sweat it.  If anything, just make sure you tell him often how much you love it, and show it off every chance you get!

@jessyrez:  How cute! My Fiance brought up “upgrade” not even a month after being engaged…. Hahahaha! I think they just want us to be happy!!

Your ring is gorgeous!!!! Congratulations!

Mine is irked by the quality of my SI baguettes and wants to upgrade.  I’ve said it would be an idea for Christmas/a future birthday present, but that I’m happy with them as they are.

I think the guys can be a little more critical, since it’s their gift, while most of us are just thrilled to be wearing a ring that they picked out and proposed with!

1.  Congratulations!

2.  Gorgeous ring!

3.  Your guy is adorable.  Mine did make some comments about how maybe he could have gotten a little bit bigger rock, and now it really doesn’t look that big….  “Hubs, love you, love the ring, it’s perfect.”  He knows I’d never upgrade it anyway, he was just second-guessing being the “good son” and getting me a diamond a little bit smaller than his older brother got for his wife.

I think our guys have to get used to seeing it, just like we do. Their opinion, like ours, might go all over the place about it in the first few months, as they and we are just getting accustomed to it. It will stabilize but not right away.

If a concern persists longer than that, and you both agree, that seems like the time to start thinking of taking action to address it (unless there’s a store policy that requires you to try to make up your mind earlier).

For what it’s worth I see nothing amiss with your ring at all 🙂 It doesn’t look like something is missing with it by itself as it is now, and it looks like you could also easily add a wedding band without it looking too clunky in combination (taking up too much finger space lengthwise).

my Fiance still asks if I really like my ring, like he can’t believe it, even though we’ve been engaged for 10 months. I’m like, “dude, you got me diamonds and platinum, I want to fuse this ring to my bones!” lol. i think if he’s asking it means he loves you and really wants to make sure you’re happy and show other people think he can take care of you. sometimes men associate the ability to provide for you (including providing you a gorgeous ring) with their self-worth. just keep assuring him how much you love the ring – it’s beautiful.

Mine made a few comments about upgrading someday within the first month or so…that’s pretty much stopped. I think over time he’s realized how much I really do love what I have right now. Probably doesn’t hurt that he still catches me gazing at it constantly lol.

@jessyrez:  Gorgeous ring!! Very similar to mine, except I have a champagne sapphire. Love that blue.

No, lol. Mine was just so proud of the ring that he bought he wanted me to show it to everyone lol.

I would just reassure him that you love it and its exactly what you want.

Mine did the same!  He said he wishes he would have gone bigger for my center stone.  Then he mentioned “upgrading” to platinum (mines white gold). All within the first week!
