Find somewhere else- there is somewhere. My sister went with one of those reception halls and it was terrible. The air conditioning broke and it smelled like an attic. It was horrible.

I am doing everything at a local Resturaunt because we got such a great deal on it. We are paying about 2,000 to rent out the resuraunt and the catering. (My mom knows the owner) Any hoo… The place has some nice charm like a fireplace and a cabin like feel, BUT There are giant stuffed bears everywhere and when we went to meet with the owner about everything I noticed an elk skull and antlers that I never noticed before. And I can’t take down their decorations I don’t like… I have to decorate around them. I am Trying to bring attention to the fireplace so everyone sees the charm. lol. But you could always to scnted candles to help with the smell and just try to play up any charm that the place may have. If they don’t allow decorating I’d suggest moving on. Good luck on your venue!

We have a super ugly social hall at church, but it is free, so we are making do.

I’m hanging these – http://ohhappyday.com/2011/02/fringey-streamers-diy/ – from the ceiling, and hanging banners styled from this – http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/photogallery/decoration-templates?#slide_2 – along the wall.  Each one says Love, and I put a purple circle behind each white one so it has a purple border.

I think these would look stunning strung across the ceiling!!! http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/article/pom-poms-and-luminarias

These are gorgeous – I recognize them from Handmade Weddingshttp://www.marthastewartweddings.com/photogallery/to-have-and-to-fold#slide_2

Or you can hang bunting, made from paper or fabric. http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/photogallery/to-have-and-to-fold#slide_5

I just saw these and I SO want to make them!!!  http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/article/paper-globe-decorations?backto=true&backtourl=/photogallery/to-have-and-to-fold#slide_10

This would make a cool photobooth backdrop! http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/photogallery/to-have-and-to-fold#slide_14

I think you should show us a picture and maybe bees can help with more suggestions.  Also, it normally isn’t as bad as you think 🙂

You can DEFINITELY make those colors work in that second venue! Ohh you can get so creative, I’m not sure how your budget is with the new place but table linens can be changed to silver/black/etc, the streamers hanging from the ceiling could be a combination of colors. chair covers with orange ribbons? But personally I like the look of those chairs already
