All of these!  If I wasn’t DIYing wedding stuff, I’d just be crafting something else.  Plus, I don’t work so I have tons of time.

The DIY stuff that I did had nothing to do with budget, I did it because it was fun, and I knew I could make certain things WAY cheaper than buying it made from someone else! Here is the card box I made, cost was $65 in materials, buying one from etsy or ebay $125.

I’m doing it for a combination of the first 3 reasons- what I’m making is cheaper than most other stuff I would like, and I can make it to be exactly how I want, which is often at least a bit different than anything commercially available. but if I didn’t have any fun doing it, I probably wouldn’t bother and I’d just buy something cheap (or not bother with decorations at all)

I DIYd some things for our wedding both because I couldn’t find exactly what I want, or because I could find it, but for stupidly ridiculous prices.

So I DIYd my centerpieces for one night, the programs for both ceremonies, the escort cards and table numbers, and a floral elephant.  My mom DIYd my favors for the second reception and my inlaws DIYd favors for the first ceremony.  My brother DIYd a beautiful, beautiful canopy for my husband and I to get married under.

    Pics!

    The centerpieces I made:

The seating cards I designed and printed:

And table numbers (of places we’ve lived):

Honestly, I had a lot of fun making these things, and my husband helped, too.  It was good bonding time for us.  =)

My projects weren’t cheaper…but I probably could have gone with cheaper supplies. I made things  because I enjoy projects.

i honestly think brides on extreme budgets should keep things simple and not DIY…unless they already own glue guns, embossing guns, etc.

I’m DIYing a lot…but I’m actually quite terrible.  I enjoy crafting, have a craft room, but not much skill.  So sometimes my attempts have to be scrapped and we go the pro route…this happened with the photobooth 🙂

I think many times DIYing is more expensive and more time consuming (flower pomanders, rhinestone anything, invitations) but more rewarding!
