@Pixienickie:  Did she combine that with exercise or just the diet? That’s crazy! Sign me up! Lol.

@MrsPanda99:  She used to go to the gym a few times a week, I think she still is. Mostly just weight training.

FH and I are going to try the fruit and veggie diet for a few weeks in the new year. Sort of like the juice detox but not blending the ingredients.

I’m on my third week, but I’ve had three cheat days :-/

I’ve lost about five pounds, but I’m thinking that a lot of it has to do with water weight. I’m excited to have less work in the coming weeks so that I can balance my cheat days with more exercise. I’m finding it a lot easier than I originally thought it would be, especially since I’m Italian (so no bread, pasta, potatoes? My family must think I’m insane). But, I made my first zucchini lasagna last night and it was D-LISH.

@VikingPrincess:  Thank you for info! I hope you don’t mind me asking how much weight you have lost so far? How long have you being on this diet?

@Pixienickie:  I would never in a million years be able to convince my husband to do that, lol. Any diet stuff and I’m on my own!

@MrsPanda99:  My mom is doing it without her husband. FH is pretty flexible with that sort of thing and knows I want to lose some weight before the wedding.

I haven’t and would never do it. That much fat can’t be healthy long term. With my family history of heart disease I just can’t take the risk.

I lost about 25ish pounds previously doing keto! I don’t do it now because it’s REALLY hard where I live (access to meat and healthy fats is horribly low, produce is very expensive) but yeah the weight just disappeared and I didn’t exercise or anything! 😀 Also contrary to popular opinion, I didn’t gain it back, mostly. I went to a “lower carb than average for americans” permanent diet (I wasn’t counting, just making good substitutions, etc.) and felt fantastic and didn’t gain.

My diet got really bad at one point (college dining hall with almost 24 hour access to waffles and soft serve, NOOOOO) and I still only gained back at most 10 pounds, which weren’t stubborn at all. (I lost them again when I made an effort.) I’m not someone who easily loses weight through working out or calorie counting, it’s really slow going and hard, but if you have a lot of access to good low carb foods keto is easy and delicious.

Okay this is a totally serious question for those of you on a low carb diet. Have you noticed really bad breath? I was on a low carb diet back in college and couldn’t deal with the bad breath. I tried everything to get rid of it/mask it but nothing helped. It really ruined the experience for me and I didn’t stay on the diet for long. Apparently it’s really common when you cut out carbs?

@VikingPrincess:

Yay, I just searched LCHF and was excited to find this post (not sure how i missed it the first time around). I am on about day 12 of doing low carb and have slowly been increasing my fat to get it closer to a keto diet. i bought the strips and have been in ketosis for at least 4 days (when i first checked). I am so nervous eating this much fat though. I lost 5lbs the first week and am about to do my 2nd weekly weigh-in today.

Do you have certain macros you follow? I am 104-fat, 25-carbs (although they have been staying much lower 15-20), 80 protein. It just sounds too good to be true but I have been researching a ton(!) and am seeing such amazing results peopel are having.

I am a little nervous about xmas but am feeling strong.

I am really not finding this diet at all hard to follow, the biggest hurdle is eating at other peoples houses and coming up with quick meal solutions!

Do you do bullet proof coffee?

@angela85:  these types of diets can easily be altered to emphasize “healthy” natural fats; plants like olive/flax/avocado, and animal fats from fish and poultry and some dairy fat. My father started this type of diet by recommendation from his cardiologist and has lost almost 50 lbs in about 4 months. He’s never looked or felt better and his HDL has already increased, while his triglycerides and LDL have drastically reduced. He uses fatty beef and pork as his treats now, once or twice a week.

 I too was skeptical but in my fathers case, the proof is in his bloodwork! I have been inspired to try this myself now.
