We tried… and we ended up around 15-18k for 140 people.

Venue- 2500

Venue misc (linens, tables, extra chairs, etc)- 800

DIY Flowers- 50

DIY Centerpieces- 225

DIY Favors- 100

Cake/Cupcakes- 500

Dress- 300

Shoes- 120

Tux and accessories- 180

DIY Invites- 80 (not counting postage)

DIY Programs- 50

Make-up- 60

Food- 5000

Booze- 850

Rings- 160

Officiant- 500

DJ- 1500

Photographer- 800 (she was worth 4x that much at least, but we got her just starting out!)

Honestly I can’t remember too much else off the top of my head tonight, but all of the little DIY things definitely added up.  We saved tons of money by DIY, but these things aren’t free either.

My budget is 10k! Here’s our breakdown:

Reception+ venue, catering, bar, cake & tax= $4362

Photog= $1500

Flowers= $775

Dress & Accessories= $600

DJ= $700

Thats leaves us about $2100 for officiant, gifts, invites, etc. With estimating it all out, we’re actually about $1200 UNDER budget.

@kate169, im splurging on the photography too. i still feel like it’s a deal bc i LOVE them, they are friends, and they are giving us the 2009 prices…but I’m getting married in October 2011!

@shannon1126, October 2011 twins! I’m starting too. It’s never too early to be surprised by how much things cost, and have time to look for deals and figure out how everything works.

We have been given 10K from the families but know we will have to kick in our own…which I am already doing in terms of deposits, shoes, vases, etc.

Ceremony and Reception venue: 2800$ this includes lodging for the bride, groom, and bridal party the night of the wedding. and an aoutdoor fireplace. (you can justify anything!)

Photography: $2500 (engagement session, 8 hours day of, CD and rights to images)

Yes, that’s over half our budget.

Did anyone else buy things along the way and NOT include them in the budget? Like, shoes, or vases from the flea market?

Wow fun post!  It’s cool to see how everything stacks up.  I was shooting for 10k but we’ve upped the budget a bit as we decided on everything.  Here’s the breakdown, FYI this is 30 people:

Venue: 1500

Catering & Equipment Rental: 5000

Photography: 1500

Super 8 film: 650 (special arrangment)

Music: 925

Officiant: 500

Hotel: 700 (for 2 days before & night of wedding)

Bridal attire: 700

Groom attire: 200

Booze: 300

Flowers: 600 (DIY!)

Favors: 300

Details: 1000

Paper: 200

Cake: 200

Doesn’t include rings & honeymoon!!  Which are admittedly low-budget at under 1500 combined =)

My “details” includes all the things I bought along the way, like vases, sparklers, napkins, etc etc.

We’re going to keep everything (rings, honeymoon, dress) in under $10,000.  We’re planning on keeping it small, about 40-50, so that will keep the cost down!

Our 10k budget is probably going to be more like 12k.  Here’s the breakdown so far:

Venue (includes food, alcohol, tax, ceremony and reception):  7600!!

Photog:  800 (got a great deal!)

DJ:  800

invitations:  200

candy bar:  200

flowers (DIY w/ help of a family friend who used to be a florist):  about 400

dress is paid for, rings are paid for.  No immediate honeymoon.  🙁

We’ll see how the rest goes.  Blew most of it on venue and food, but that was my splurge!
