That’s great to hear! I think it’ll be magical then. I wasn’t trying to rant or anything, just want to raise awareness… I know here in Chicago I’ve seen some horses that they were definitely overworking/underwatering, but I think that’s much more common in the big cities.

I love the idea of it, but I am with the others against the treatment. Also SO is allergic to them, so it wouldn’t work even if it wasn’t an ethnical problem for me.

msmonicka- that is so wonderful that you found a place that treats the animals so well! They will not only look and act better but you know the horses aren’t dying in the process!

@MsMonicka: Wow!  You really did your legwork.  Nice job!

I agree with LilyFaith that this is more of a problem in cities.  I can’t even walk near Central Park without feeling sad (and angry).  Every year there’s some accident with horses being “spooked” by a cab or something and their treatment is terrible.  I don’t mean to be preach-y either, but this is one of those issues that gets me as a NYer/city-dweller.

We will be leaving the reception in a horse drawn carriage as well! 🙂 Horray! It is going to be beautiful!

@MsMonicka- What place are you using for your horse and carriage ride? I thought about going this route but never even checked prices due to assuming they were crazy expensive! Can I ask how much they cost and for what length of time?

I’m hoping to, but I’m leaving that stuff up to my Fiance. I’d love to do it as our get away from the ceremony to reception. It’s really close together.

Just to clarify, on my part, we’re getting married at a B&B.  It has a huge plot of land, 4 horses, and they are all very well taken care of.  We met all of the horses and the caretaker for the horses, and everything seemed great, so we were on board with the idea.  🙂

We wanted to but both my mom and dad had accidents with horses when they were younger so LOL…I’m too chicken! SO we are going with a classic car instead (IF we can find an affordable one in the area!)
