We took the day off to make it a long week.  We’re going to go to the mountains by our wedding site and do our cake tasting, and maybe go to a brewery we like.  I think it will be a great day, but not spent buying each other stuff we don’t really need.

@LuluInLove:  Does doing absolutely nothing count? lol It used to be my favorite holiday. For years I did all sorts of cutsie things for Darling Husband. I got sick of it meaning nothing to him. This is my first year of throwing my hands up and saying to heck with it! I’ll probably be really bitter the whole weekend.

I don’t know if we’re doing anything for Valentine’s Day. I’ll be rumpy if he doesn’t get me chocolate though!

We are planning a trip to the West Edmonton Mall, and the Edmonton science center at the beginning of March though! The science center is the last stop for a Harry Potter exhibit, and the mall has an awesome waterpark that we really want to go to. We’re excited!

@LuluInLove:  In the first few years we’d have dinner and get eachother a present (actually my Fiance did used to have roses sent to my work, SUPER sweet, but the last few years i’ve told him not to worry because of how crazy expensive they are on VDay)

We’ve decided from this year onwards we’re skipping valentines day and having our own one middle of the year. The start of the year is so busy for us with bdays and so close to christmas and our anniversary but we have nothing for the rest of the year so thought it would be fun to mix it up!

I don’t know if this is considered traditional or not, but it’ll only happen once for us: we’ll be picking up our marriage license! (it’s a bit mushy, I know, but what better day to do it?)

Ignoring it. We don’t celebrate hallmark day.

Ditto on doing nothing!  We will exchange clever cards and I’ll cook something.  I told Darling Husband he can go to CVS on the 15th to buy me a box of Lindt Truffles in a heart box since they will be 50% off then!

So I broke off an engagement years ago.  That man had proposed to me on valentine’s day.  I broke off that engagement.  My current fiance knew me when I was engaged and knew me when I went through the painful breakup.

Valentine’s isn’t special between my current fiance and me.  We will go out if there’s a good restaurant deal. This day, we’re going out on 2/15.  On valentines day we may stay in and eat sushi.  🙂

Valentines day is sadly our dating anniversary even though we aren’t fans of it.  So we just call it our anniversary and celebrate that. We usually just go to Texas Roadhouse and a movie but this year is number 5 so we decided to do something special lol. I laugh because we decided to keep dinner the same but are going to a hockey game instead of a movie, not very romantic but we’re really looking forward to it! And even though we don’t exchange gifts I’m hoping he’ll get me a rhr I’ve been eyeing 🙂

According to the lunar calendar, Feb 14, 2014 in the Gregorian calendar is coincidentally one of the most auspicious dates for weddings in the year of the horse.

Had I known, I would’ve chosen that date as my wedding date! Elope to somewhere warmer — it’s -21C here.

Rather than opt for an over priced, cliche meal… we are going to an art studio that is byob to show off our (lack of) artistic skills! I figure, if we’re going to splurge on a “date night”, may as well do it on V-day.

We usually exchange small gifts (I got him a DVD of the show Nature that’s about love in the animal kingdom this year) and go out to eat at a low key restaurant. Usually the Vietnamese place down the street from his house isn’t too busy. I also get him a card and tell him all the reasons I love him. I enjoy it, I enjoy all holidays though.

This year Valentine’s day falls on a long weekend for us, and Fiance is going to his parents farm to help with calving. I can’t go because I’m working so I will just be hanging out at home. I will either have sushi or pizza, I haven’t decided yet, lol. And Fiance and I will exchange our gifts on Thursday evening.
