I hear ya.

Especially when I was working on invites and people were asking me what I was working on….ummmm do I have to tell you because you won’t be getting one!

Makes for awkward convos.

If I’m in a particularily stressed mood, I’ll say something like “Oh, we cancelled.”

LOL. People blink a couple times and then I tell them I’m joking, but I hate planning.

Oh, I do hate that.  Especially when it’s my Father-In-Law.  They’ll asked me specific things like where have you registered’  and ‘what’s the theme’  which is cool, except we haven’t totally written in stone what we’re doing.  So they look at me like, ‘you don’t know?’  I’m like no, I have an idea, we’re trying to make it work, lol. (yes, we have a lot to figure out, and only 1 day a week to do it in 😛

I finally told my Fiance that he gets to answer the questions, cause I’m tired of explaining Why we haven’t done such and such yet.  Maybe then some things will get done, haha.

I didn’t mind that question – I actually welcomed it and thought it was strange if it wasn’t mentioned.

The question that drove me nuts was:  are you excited?!

I know it is a well-intended comment – but it drove me insane – and I wanted to scream:   WHAT DO YOU THINK?!?!??!?!?

@.twist.: Hahah I’m saving that one!!

We’re still a year out, but my co-workers still ask me this. I’m like uhhhh??? It’s going? Haha I really hate that question.

@oracle: That question annoyed me too!  I hated it when people asked if I was excited.  For me, getting married was so huge that “excited” was not the right word to explain how I felt.  It’s not like I was planning a trip to Disneyworld.  So then I would try and explain what I was feeling and people would look at me weird.  I guess people just expect you to say “Yes, I am SOOOOOO excited!!!!”

Am I the only one inwardly groaning and maybe even rolling my eyes a little at this?

I mean, people ask to make small talk, not only because they are nosy.  But seriously some of you make it sound like your wedding is as important as the Royal Wedding and everyone is just DYING to be invited.

Common, you’re getting married. Maybe save your energy to be annoyed over bigger and better things.

Yeah, it’s hard getting that question when you are completely sure how to answer it, especially when things are crazy planning it.  I agree

@Oneeleven: I get that people like to make small talk, and I definitely don’t think my wedding is anywhere close to being as important as the royal wedding.

But, it gets really frustrating, because I know people are expecting me to say something like “OMG, it’s going SO WELL, and I’ve gotten this done, and this is happening and OMG, SOMEONE DID THIS FOR ME!!!!!”

When the real answer is much more dramatic and sometimes makes me want to cry. Wedding planning for me has NOT been easy or fun, and telling people that is not only tiring but completely unexciting and I don’t like repeating how shitty I think wedding planning is.

I’m not getting married until next August but have done some of the bigger things like book the church, venue and photographer. We also decided on a color scheme. Seriously though,… I know a few people that ask me once a week  how things are going…and it makes me feel so awkward because I always have to say something along the lines of… “well it’s still quite a ways away yet so we’ve only done bigger things… etc. etc. etc… or ” I haven’t done anything else really since the last time you asked”….anyways. I just find it weird that people ask me so far in advance.. like I should have a whole shindig planned out in detail by now.

@tntrav44:

I hear ya!

I don’t think you seem ungrateful though

Maybe think up some fabulous witty answers ahead of time and rotate them?
