So Friday, Mr. A took me out to Boston for a fancy lunch for my birthday. That night, I woke up in a sweat around 1am and have been throwing up ever since. It has calmed down at this point to about once an hour but it has been hell!
I cannot stop sweating, it is coming out both ends and I feel like death.
How long is this supposed to last? It’s been about 32 hours at this point.

I’ve had food poisioning several times in my life. It shouldn’t last too much longer and you really just need to ride it out. Drink as much water as you can and take Gravol to settle your stomach as much as possible.
I’m sorry you’re going through this! It’s such a nightmare.

Oh man, that’s just the WORST feeling ever. And you’ve been sick a lot longer than I ever was. Mine were always a one day thing. You might want to call your doctor tomorrow morning if you’re not better then. Food poisoning can be really dangerous-don’t take any chances. But feel better and I hope it’s out of your system soon.

Food poisoning is horrible, but it usually only lasts about 24-36 hours. I agree w/ 2ndtimeacharm – call the doctor if you aren’t feeling better soon!

The nastiest time I ever had it, I had a fever and nausea and fluids out both ends for about 36 hours, and then I just felt absolutely awful for another three days or so. Have you been able to get any fluids inside you? If yes, then call a doctor in the morning if you’re still sick. If no, then get your butt to urgent care right now because you’re probably really dehydrated, and that can be very dangerous.

Hubby got it on our honeymoon (lovely!) and his lasted 48 hours – a full two days. We even had to reschedule our flights home because there was no way he could get on a plane! Really you just need to wait it out. But if it’s any more than 2.5 days, I’d truck on over to a doctor because at that point the dehydration would be your biggest worry! Feel better sweetie!!

It’s just gotta get out of your system…but drink lots and lots of fluids!
I would call a doctor if it’s still going strong on day 3.
Whatever you do, don’t take immodium d or anything that stops what’s happening, it will only make it last longer!

I actually used to think it could only last 24 hours but about 6 months ago, I had it for two days. Then I was talking to my co-worker and she said her husband had it for a Week straight…but extremely sever.
I’d say if you have it for more than two days, to go to the ER. Chances are you are very dehydrated and that isn’t helping you being sick.

For me it lasted about 3 days. Feel better soon!

This sounds like norovirus. It usually lasts about 24-48 hours. I had it a few months ago. I hope you feel better soon! Try to keep drinking fluids. Gatoraid is good because it gives you electolytes and sugar. Water it down to about 50/50, that way the excess salts and sugar wont make you more sick. Hope you feel better soon!

1. Treat the vomiting first. You need to get to the pont where you can keep fluids down.
then click on home treatment
2. then treat the diarrhea
click on home treatment

I have had it a few times also, mine only seemed to last 12-24 hours and once it was all out, I felt like it had never even happened.
I had it at work once, but I thought I could stick it out, I was running back anf forth to the bathroom all day and threw up in the parking lot on my way home…awful! Word of advice, if it happens at work…go home1 Feel Better!
