I feel like I’m going crazy with finding the wedding dress I truly am 100% happy with!
I bought my first dress 8 months prior to the wedding. I went in not knowing what I wanted – only that I wanted some simple but elegant. I chose a ball gown strapless dress and loved it (still do). However, as time went on I realized the skirt was just soooo heavy for an outside beach wedding and it swamped my petite frame. I also preferred someone with sleeves or some type of top because I’m very small busted strapless has never really been a good choice for me.
So, second trip I go in with a dress in mind that I saw on the David’s Bridal website and fell in love with (another ball gown style). I absolutely LOVE the dress but was in a rush because I had to get somewhere, so I just tried it on (even though they only had a size 22 to try on when I’m a size 8 – the stylist trying her best to configure it as true to my fit as possible) and figured it would be fine once I received my size. However, after receiving the size that would fit my waist I realized it just wasn’t flattering to my body. With the alterations that would need to be made to the bust area (where I’m quite small and my waist is larger) the top was super uncomfortable at the arm area – it was stratchy and rubbed so roughly against my skin.
Now, after a lot of thought and research on finding the dress for your body type, I think an empire waist or natural waist/A-line dress would be 100% more flattering to my body overall – and I’ve found 2 dresses I really want to try on from the David’s Bridal website. I was just so set on wanting a ball gown skirt, I didn’t consider the entire design of the dress and whether it would be flattering to my body. I still want the ball gown skirt 🙁 but I’d much much rather have a dress that fits my body type. So, now this will be my third exchange….
Has anyone else had the same experience? Initially loving your choice then realizing it just wasn’t right and changing it — more than once!?! I feel like I’m never going to find that perfect dress for me that I’ll be totally happy with 🙁 Luckily the wedding isn’t until Dec. 24th so I have some time….but I’m just feeling so discouraged. AHHHHHHH
