I did! I bought my dress at a store I didn’t even want to go to, picked a style I said I would never even try on, and came in way under budget. I didn’t even have it all the way on and I knew it was the one.
Yep! I thought I wanted a poofy tulle gown with long lace sleeves and ended up getting a strapless fit and flare (or trumpet, I’m not 100% certain what to call it!).
I was 100% sure I didn’t want strapless. Guess what I ended up with?
Yup! Literally the opposite of everything I wanted. LOL
walkerwilkins : I didn’t even want to go into the store I got my dress from either!
I saw a Sophia Tolli I had to try on and emailed a bunch of places and this shop left me a message saying they had it. Long story short that wasn’t the dress but I loved the consultant so I went back for an appointment.
When she initially showed me my dress I saw it on the hanger and I didn’t think it was going to be it at all. She told me not to judge until I’d put it on and I was in love.
I also knew 100% that I didn’t want strapless. Or a ball gown. Or anything tulle. I wanted a V-neck lace dress, modified A line with a little bit of bling.
I ended up getting a Tulle Strapless Ballgown. No lace, no bling, no nothing. Just tulle.
And I am completely obsessed with it.
I wanted an unfussy “casual” ethereal beachy type dress with no train and wound up with a super formal beaded A-line with a boat neck and a long train. I also said I was going to buy it used for super cheap and would never be one of those women who spend a fortune on a dress, then I fell in love with one and spent 3x my original budget. Oops!
