(Closed) Anyone else feel a little panicked when all the wedding bills come due?

YES! YES! YES! YES!! We created our joint checking account for all wedding expenses (after the wedding it’ll be for our household bills) so every penny in that account is meant to be spent on the wedding, but still writing these “large” checks makes me hyperventilate!

And yes, seeing that it took us 18 months to save up for this + my parents’ generous contribution all being spent on ONE day seems like the most ridiculous idea ever.

I found that our bills were spread out throughout the entire planning process. Dress, venue, decorations, photographer, deposits etc were due early.

Of course there was a big chunk at the end (caterer, liquor store, makeup) but was substantially less than the entire cost.

But by then I think I came to terms with the cost. The first month of planning I was freaking out over the money being spent. I said I either accept it and plan, or dont accept it and do something else. I couldnt have it both ways.

Yes. Particularly when we handed over the final bill for the catering.

Good lord.

But it was worth every cent and then some!

OMG yes! I was just talking to Fiance about this today! We are nowhere close to the end.. but EVERYTHING is in the thousands.. I just don’t like spending that kind of money.. it kind of makes me sick.. hopefully I get over it come wedding day.

Oh yea! We had a year and a half engagement so we made payments pretty much regularly throughout but about a month before the wedding when all of the final payments were coming due I was majorly stressed out. Our wedding wasn’t quite as much as yours (about $13k when it was all said and done) but having to cough up roughly $8,000 all at once was nauseating. Thankfully my parents contributed $5,000 of that so it wasn’t too bad but it was definitely still a lot of money. Now that the wedding is done and over with and I think about how much we spent, I don’t regret it. Would it have been nice to have $13,000 in our bank account? Absolutely, but our wedding was everything we wanted it to be and I know our guests had an awesome time. The memories are worth more to me than what we paid.

I worry about the final month having to pay all the bills.  I’ve convinced my Fiance that we need to start paying people off now so that all we have eft the day of is the bill to the venue.  I would feel a ton better if we paid off little by little and had a smaller balance in the end.

Our payments/deposits were spread out over our 18 month engagement. A month before the wedding the remaining 1/3 of our contract was due to our venue who is also our caterer and florist. Then in the last 2 weeks before any additional guest count and add ones will be due and all our other vendors…this is not even 10% of our overall budget and I’m still finding it hard to part with the money. What scares me is when I look back and add up EVERYTHING and see that giant number with way too many zeros after it.

I wasn’t anxious at what we had spent, but what we still have to put out. We won’t be able to payoff our venue until we have a final guest count three weeks before hand and we can’t pre-pay photography so that’s another 1K we have to shell out five days after the wedding. Oh, and we have to finish paying off the cruise. Oy vey. However, we are very excited about our wedding since it will allow us to legally call the other our spouse.

I almost had a meltdown when we first started looking at the prices of things and budgeting. =)  Now I’m a bit calmer.

I am so glad to see others posts.  We are getting married in Pismo Beach, CA with 30 of our closest friends and family members followed by a nice dinner…Then we wanted to incorporate EVERYONE so we will have a reception for more than 100 the following weekend in Reno, NV.  Costs for 2 venues, traveling, 2 meals….Oi Vey….  We are paying as we go.  The wedding is in March and most of our deposits are being paid this month.  Normally when I throw a party everything is $100 here $100 there….This Wedding everything is $1000 here, $500 over budget here….EEKS!  No money saved, paying as we go its a stressful process but I know I have this….
