Rain, rain… stay away so my wonderful bf can till the garden tonight!!!
Last year, I had a small patio container garden, but I am going full-fledged with a veggie and flower garden this year! It will be 15×15 with a few more smaller flower plots here and there.
We are doing the basic veggies (cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, corn, etc) and I am also doing a flower trial with mostly mums and asters to see if I will be able to grow my own flowers for next year’s wedding.
Anyone else a first time gardener this year? Seasoned gardener? Tell me about your garden and your plans!

Yes yes yes yes YES! This will be my 4th summer of container gardening, and I am fortunate to now have a small garden plot in back of my apartement building. I love gardening in the summer months, is it so rewarding and it helps me to deepend my connection with nature!
My plan this year is:
Container Garden: Tomatoes, Jalapeno Peppers, Herb Box, 2 flower boxes, Eggplant barrel, Cucumbers
Garden Plot (Shady): Lettuces, Spinach, Beets, Beans and Peas.
So much fun! Good luck with your wedding flowers, my parents will be growing mine on their farm in Vermont. Good to see another gardener on the bee 🙂

@rosiebear — I am also doing a ton of leafy greens. It is fabulous that you can cut and cut.. and most keep coming back!
@juno0522 — did you buy lavender transplants? I am going to have to check into that.. I am a HUGE fan, but not patient enough to start from seed (takes 2 yrs to flower!)
@egb— love me some herbs, too. So far, I’ve just planned on basil and dill, but I am sure the list will grown when we visit the nursery 🙂

For just my garden, we tilled out an area of 40×50 (we live on 5 1/2 acres). I plan on doing corn, bell peppers, potatoes, onion, tomatos, strawberries, blueberries and more just haven’t decided!

yup! have a 7×7 herb garden – tons of sage, my lavender and tarragon both came back too (woot!), and chives in there now, and will put some basil in when it gets a little warmer. (yay pesto!)
will do beans, peppers, tomatoes, lettuce, swiss chard and probably a few hills of yellow squash in the veggie garden.
and lots of flowers/shrubs/bulbs etc in the other beds. 🙂

Yes, the house we bought came with a pretty large, well established perennial garden, but it is in dire need of some TLC, since the house was vacant all last summer.
We’re doing some major landscaping overhauls & plan on putting in quite a few raised beds as well as a full fledged veggie garden.
Last year is was so wet nothing grew very well for lack of photosynthesis, this year it seems to be looking like it might be more drought-like conditions, but I’m still optimistic.
