Anyone else get a lot of planning done "really fast"?

Me!! We are getting married in May of next year, but we were engaged beginning of December 2018 and had all the major vendors locked in by January. We kind of knew what we were going for and now we are a lot less stressed and get to focus on the finer details!

We got engaged April 12th, and by the following Friday we’d booked venue, catering, band and I’d bought my dress and the bridesmaids dresses (had 3 x 8/9 year olds, so that was easy!). I’m definitely a planner with a very organised mother, so we had it all sorted in a twinkling! We got married on August 4th, and the last 6 weeks I had basically nothing to do, apart from the fun bits like hen parties, a bit of DIY and dress fittings/beauty appointments. We even took off on holiday with my parents for a week and it’s one of my favourite memories – that lovely downtime with my family before I officially got ‘handed over’ to my husband!

To the OP – I second pp saying to get the ‘big ticket’ things booked ASAP as they’re boring! Then you can enjoy doing the fun bits that make your wedding personal at your own pace, and let the excitement build! Congrats!

Yup, this is something I can definitely relate to. We got engaged in August 2017 but the venue I was set on was literally booked out until 2019 when we started looking a few months later! Because of this, we had/are having to wait until August 2019 to get married (wooo not long to go now!). We ended up just paying and booking for things in early 2018 because we knew what we wanted and it would be easier to just get things locked down and in place. Time will fly bee and you’ll thank yourself for being super organised as you get closer to the big day 🙂  Also, I’m finding there are still a few things I’d not accounted for so even though we’re now only 3 months away I’m actually finding it’s good that everything major has been sorted so I can enjoy getting through all these other little bits and pieces!

Me! People have made comments “don’t you just want to enjoy your engagement without planning so fast?”. My response is that we have been together for 4 years… not interested in dating with a ring on, haha. I figure the purpose of getting engaged is to plan a wedding!

We booked our venue within 1 week, florist within 1 month, and photographer within 1 month. I’ve also purchased my dress after 3 months.

We were also discussing details before we were engaged though- so we knew what we wanted.

Yep! Got engaged 12/24/18. By 2/1/19 literally all the big items bought/rented (dress and rings, tux) and vendors (venue, food, flowers, photographer, band, etc.) booked for our 7/13/19 wedding. The venue we loved had one summer date available this year, so we went for it! So, given the 6 month timeline we had to move fast. But now we are relaxed as we ride out these last few months until the wedding.
