I’m on a slower path, but my grandparents’ story is my favorite. They were both in the Marine Corps, he was an officer and she was enlisted  (a big no no!) They met on day 1, married 28 days later, she got out of the Corps. They were married for 70 years, through 2 wars, 4 kids, 11 grandkids, and 3 great grandkids, till my grandpa passed.

Same type of story here! 4 months after our first date he moved in.. 3 days after our 1 year we got engaged. We are getting married this june , we have now been together just over 2 years and couldn’t be happier, when you know you know! 😀

I’m not officially engaged, but we ordered the ring a couple of weeks ago, and we’ve been together about 8 months. Definitely shorter timeframe than I would have envisioned, but we’re both a bit older (I’m 35; he’s 40) adn know what we want. 8 months is long compared to my BF’s parents who met around Memorial Day and *got married* six weeks later! It was the 1960s, though. They were married more than 40 years until she passed away this winter.

We moved in after 5 months, got engaged after 10 months, and our wedding was about 2 months shy of the 2-year anniversary of knowing each other. It sounds so fast when I say it and compare it to my other long-term relationships, but all of it felt so right and we are so happy!

maritimebride2016:  We got engaged after dating for 5 months and 3 days. We got married at 10 months and 6 days.

I wouldn’t reccomend it to everyone, but it worked for us.

Yup!! We were engaged after 9 months of dating, married after a year and a half. We are married for a year as of March & it’s been amazing I wouldn’t change a thing 🙂 Everyone is different!

We met and were engaged about 6 months later and got married about a year after that. Our relationship moved quickly because we both knew immediately that we were right for each other. A lot of people talked, especially since I had been engaged fairly recently before meeting him, but we didn’t care. Taught me a life lesson about judging others, that’s for sure. Before meeting Darling Husband I would have been in the “6 months is too fast!” camp. Now I leave everyone’s business to them.

We had our first date October 23, and got engaged April 9, so about 5.5 months! We will be getting married August 2017, so a few months shy of two years.  Definitely never pictured myself moving that quickly in a relationship, especially after being engaged previously and breaking it off, but I had a different feeling with my fiance than I’ve had in previous relationships. Not a “head over heels”, infatuated feeling necessarily, but it is easy to be with him, no drama, we are extremely compatible in the areas important to us, and want the same things in life.  We are both turning 28 soon, and knew what we wanted out of a marriage partner when we met eachother, why wait? 🙂  Both of our families are very supportive, as are our close friends. We are quite happy with our decision!

  • Wedding: June 2016 - Vineyard & Winery

Had our first date January 10, 2015.  Got engaged 5 months later on June 27, 2015.  Our wedding will be about one year after we got engaged: June 11, 2016.

We knew after a few weeks that it was meant to be. People had always told me “when you know, YOU KNOW”.  I never believed it until I met my FI!  Neither of us have ever been married or had kids but we’ve both had our fair share of relationships so it’s not like we’re naive or anything when it comes to that.  He’s 46 and I’m 38.

We’re both glad we never ‘settled’ early in life 🙂  We know what we want and it also makes wedding planning that much more easy/enjoyable!!

My fiancé and I got engaged two weeks ago. Still swimming in bliss! This is after dating for about 8 months and living together half of that time.

It was an absolute surprise being that he’s been engaged before and trauma from his parents’ divorce has made him very cautious about marriage. I decided I wasn’t going to move in full time until we get engaged and we both agreed we wouldn’t think about marriage until the year mark of our relationship. Despite all that, he had been planning our proposal for months around our vacation to D.C. He even baited me with a surprise he was going to give me once we got there. I never in a million years would I have thought it was his great-grandmothers engagement ring. He won that round

I was pretty shocked, so shocked that I took back my yes a couple hours later because I didn’t think we were ready for that. But love prevailed and we settled on a longish engagement.

If it’s any comfort, my partner and I are “pre-engaged” (ring shopping, etc.) after a year and eight months and one of my friends STILL makes rude comments about it.

Whatever, haters are gonna hate. Do your thing and be happy!
