I love my ring to death (it is palladium metal with diamonds on the band and a halo) and am trying to always be careful when I wear it during the day, but some how I manage to knock it into things or hit it on things. For example my desk at work the cabinets in our kitchen, even walls. I am generally not a clumsy person. Everytime I hit my ring on something I freak out and worry if I scratched or damaged it. Also, I know the bottom portion of my ring will get sratched, but I get so annoyed whenever I see how scratched it is. It is not like I am rubbing it on rocks or something. However, I plan on taking it in the next month or so to have it checked out, polished and cleaned Does anyone else have this issue?

@dreams030684: Allll the time. I’m not dainty. I’m not graceful. Two weeks after getting it, I had to bring it in to have the prongs fixed because I somehow managed to catch it on a door and shove it back hard enough on my finger to pinch me and cause a blood blister AND bend two prongs to almost touching. Pure talent. We got married after just seven months of engagement and I had to have it replated by then (white gold) because I am constantly scratching it and hitting it. I’m honestly amazed that I haven’t bent the prongs again.
I don’t see it as being disrespectful of the ring, though at first I felt that I was being horrible to it. It’s just…part of my hand. Stuff happens. I can’t be afraid to move because I might ding it. I do take it off for things that I know will be SUPER rough, where an accident (or four) is bound to happen.

I have a bezel and it’s all scratched up etc but I don’t really mind. I’ve been wearing it for a year and a half I believe so it’s bound to happen, plus I don’t EVER take it off because it’s just part of my finger now and I don’t ever remember to. It doesn’t look bad or anything, so I’m not worried about it. 🙂

My moissy, which I love, actually chipped within the first 6 months. I am not hard on it at all. I am a school teacher and I take it off all the time (once I get home, at the gym, etc.) I think it’s just going to happen unfortunately.

I am really rough on mine. I dont try to be, but things happen. The top of the ring and the head is platinum, and I have scratches in it, and the bottom that is white gold has turned yellow and is all scratched up. I was very very careful with it when I first got it, and the first scratch I got I freaked out, but now I think I am just so used to wearing it I dont really think about it too much. It will scratch and get a little beat up, but as soon as you take it in to get polished it looks brand new! 🙂

@dreams030684: I’m just as bad with scratches… Just get her polished up once a year n she’s as good as new. It’s covered under my warranty so I never pay a dime

@dreams030684: I am so with you! Get ring insurance before something happens. I am not gentle with my ring either and already knocked out one stone in the halo. Praise God, it is under lifetime warranty from Robbins Brothers in Houston. My fiance insured the ring, and we have a 3-year warranty from Henri Daussi and a lifetime warranty from Robbins Brothers.

Thanks for the insight ladies. I did purchase insurance on my ring, so I know if anything happens to it I am covered. And my jeweler is really great as well. I just wish it could stay perfect forever, even though I know that is impossible. Thanks!!

Yep, I’m pretty hard on mine. I don’t take it off, basically ever, so that’s bound to happen. Gardening, house cleaning, cooking, errands – it’s amazing how much wear and tear your ring will take!
The insurance we have for my ring requires it to be inspected every 6 months. As long as I do that, it is fully, 100% covered against *anything* at all – scratches, dents, missing/chipped diamonds, you name it. Every 6 months they will look it over head to toe, fix anything that’s broken, and give it back to me all shiny and beautiful again!
If you’re hard on yours too, definitely look into some type of insurance. It’s worth the easiness on your mind – and your pocket, if something bad happens to it.

I am constantly hitting mine on things too. I’d rather that not happen but honestly… I just don’t worry about it anymore. It gets inspected every six months and I have insurance on it.
