I hate it too, unless I’m talking to a certain one or two people. Talking to kids is another thing–I wouldn’t say I HATE it, but it’s soooo awkward.

@LaCroix:  talking to kids is mega awkward. It’s always like “hi sweetie, how was school? ok, uh huh, uh huh, uh huh, oooh! That’s wonderful! uh huh, uh huh, uh huh, oooh! Ok, put mommy back on! ooohhh, ok! uh huh! ok, put mommy back on PLEASE!”

Call me old fashioned, but I can’t stand being on the phone for very long unless I really miss or want to hear that person’s voice. Even texts, although it can be easier at times. Any phone I use seems to bother my ears. Face to face is always better.

I hate it too. I usually let my work calls go to voicemail and then can listen to them and answer when I have time. I hate being put on the spot. And actually I read that people are more likely to agree to things when on the phone, because you are put on the spot and don’t have time to consider the facts. That’s why salesmen use the phone!

I HATE it. I talk to my parents on the phone daily but theyre the only ones I like to talk to (and my fiance, if we happen to be apart…but we’re usually not). I try to be pretty open with people about the fact that I really don’t pick up the phone. So if they call me, they might be sad because I wont pick up. 😮

I hate it. Especially unexpected calls. Most of my friends know to text and ask if it’s a good time before they call!

Yes, I never answer my phone…and it takes me days to listen to messages.  The only person I enjoy talking to on the phone is my mother.

Yes, yes, yes to “but I’m a get to the point and end the conversation kind of person” and I hate it when I’m at someone’s house and they get a call and then just hand the phone over to talk to whoever it is.  I want to run away when this happens.

Yep, can’t stand it. Other than my mom or FH, i NEVER call friends or family just to chat.  We text some and interact on social networks, but I’m just more of a face-to-face kind of person.  I think what I hate most is the awkward silences and also I think I sound weird on the phone!

But here’s the weird part….I don’t mind if its a stranger.  I have to call people a lot for work, and they are usually short phone calls, but they don’t bother me one bit.  It must be the anonymity of it or something…

YES! I hate talking on the phone. I’m so awkward with it. I’m glad that everyone has moved to text and email. I’ll speak on the phone with my family and Fiance if necessary, but we live together, and text all day, so it’s rare that we actually need to speak over the phone.

I’m  currently dealing with someone on a school project who INSISTS on calling me and it makes me so irritable, because it would actually be easier to discuss online.

@beccab107:  Yes! The same for birthday phone calls–both mine and someone else’s. I appreciate the sentiment, but you’re a relative that I have nothing in common with, so let’s just accept that we both want to say “happy birthday” “thanks!” and just hang up.

Talking on the phone is the bane of my existance. Fiance and I talk on the phone occasionally, and I really like that. I think though its mostly because he’s deaf, and talking on the phone is hard for him, it involves lots of concentration and him putting his hearing aids on, so I treasure those moments. Otherwise if you want to contact me, e-mail or text me instead!
