My Fiance came home from work at 5 am, and I groggily remember him telling me he didn’t feel good. Fast forward to today, and he is a mess. I think it’s the flu, he can’t keep anything down and he has a horrible headache.
I hate it when he is sick. I’m lucky because it happens so rarely, but when it does, and this is going to sound horrible – I just want to get away from him. Yes, I feel badly that he is sick. But a) I don’t want to get sick and b) he turns into a clingy baby boy.
That’s really what I can’t stand. He is my big, strong, invincible man! When he is sick, he reverts into a toddler and I have to play mommy. As I write this, he wants me to come lay in bed and rub his forehead and keep the cloth on his head cool. And I’m going to do it, because that’s what you do when you love someone and I know he would do the same for me. But I’m not going to like it.
What is your SO like when they’re sick?

I think all men are like this. I could have one arm severed off squirting blood and would be cleaning up toys on the way out of the house.
Darling Husband stubs his toe and he’s in bed for 2 days.

My boyfriend is like this but thankfully it’s also rare when he’s sick. The other day he woke up with a stomachache and begged me to go to Rite Aid (at 7AM on the only day I don’t have something to wake up early for) and buy him medicine.
And I did because I love him. I even went out in public without makeup. Haha. He should feel honored. 🙂

My SO is the worst when he’s sick! I totally agree with you, all I want to do is get away from him because once he’s sick, it’s just a matter of time before I come down with it as well!

Glad I’m not the only one! He gets brownie points because as I was rubbing his head he said “Baby, you’re so good to me. I don’t deserve you.”

Haha, I was JUST talking about this at work! My Fiance is the EXACT same. I had a cold last week and went to the doctor and he said I was over-reacting. However this week he’s sick with the SAME thing yet he swears it’s 100x worse.

The funny thing is, I actually don’t mind the first day. He rarely gets sick, and it’s sort of sweet that he needs me and shows a little weakness. After the first day, and him refusing to eat the food I make him, whining about the pain and laying around and refusing to take the medicines I give him, I can only think how ready I am for him to get better. Especially because I’m not sick, so sitting around feeding him is kinda boring. As soon as he’s on the mend though, he does always tell me how glad he is to have me, so I guess it evens out. 🙂

My Fiance is the type that will be so sick he can hardly stand and still go in to work. I WISH he would just sit down and let me take care of him! lol

I completely second mwitter80 up there! I have literally had it coming out both ends (TMI, but that’s life folks) and held a puking, screaming child and not slept for two days and hardly caught a break. DH gets the sniffles and he acts like he needs bedrest for a few days and to be waited on hand and foot.
I’m going to sound sexist here, but men seem to turn into large babies when they get sick.

He. is. Wretched. It’s kind of funny but mostly a pain.

Haha my SO is such a wimp when he’s sick. I feel bad that he doesn’t feel well but sometimes he’s so overdramatic I can’t help but laugh a little.

@Cindle: “I’m going to sound sexist here, but men seem to turn into large babies when they get sick.” I completely agree with your statement (at least as far as my Fiance is concerned).
We get sick once or twice a year. He’ll do a few nice things for me when I’m sick, but mostly I’m on my own. When he gets sick it’s the end of the world!!!! I have to baby him and tuck covers around him, get him cool glasses of water all the time, make special soups for him, force him to take medicine after waiting three days and realizing it’s the only way he’ll recover quickly, etc.

My Fiance gets in a really bad mood when he feels sick. I think I’d prefer it if he were whiny and weak and being a baby…Unfortunately when he’s not feeling well he can be a real jerk!

My Darling Husband got a cold on honeymoon, he gets SO annoying!!!! He doesn’t stop complaining, and sighs like every breath is his last lol!!!!!
But I love him and i don’t mnd looking after him, as long as he stops complaining all the time….

I posted yesterday about my Fiance being sick, too, and I have to say, I hate it as well. I think that men DO turn into babies when they are sick!! He is home alone today and I can promise you that he has done nothing to make himself get better (taking meds, resting, eating little things like toast, DRINKING FLUIDS!!) and when I get home I’ll have a mess to take care of. I told him since we cant get in with the doctor today or this weekend, I am taking him to the urgent care when I get home, because if he is complaining because he is this sick, then he needs to be seen. He pouted but he knows that’s just how it is going to be!
