Yes! A post about it here and there is fine, but constant posts about it are annoying.

No! They can post about it until the cows come home and it doesn't bother me one bit.

I guess it’s strange that people do this but maybe they just like the accountability? I just hide people who post too often.

@hopeandpray:  Having a separate group to discuss specific interests is great! Kinda like, instead of giving every wedding related update on FB, I come to the bee!
And I so know what you mean about the”jealous” mentality of people who constantly post about their fitness… they think everyone is a “hater” and jealous, um no, sorry, people just think you’re annoying and self-centred… I blame it on roid rage

I have a few friends who are using FB as their fitness motivator. I have no issue seeing the odd post from them like

    ‘Killed the treadmill today’

    ‘Pouring rain but still ran’

    ‘Owned those free weights’

I hate my one friend who posts about her routines, celiac menu options, complaints that not all restaurants offer celiac options. She’s usually trying to sell some kind of new diet drink or the DVD’s she’s done using. ‘Lost 35 lbs with these DVD’s now selling for $15 come on ppl you know you could use them.’ Ummm..thanks?

I have several offenders on my list. I think the worst one is that there is someone (who I am still pretty close with but not like we hang on a regular basis, we just go way back, which is why I haven’t deleted/blocked her) that ALWAYS posts super cryptic motivational crap or super cryptic girl power crap like, “I should have known better, but you burned me and I won’t be burned again.” I once commented that she was super cryptic and should stop but she just left me a smiley face….? So, okay.

I also have one who constantly posts about her kids. She just had a new baby and has a toddler, and she’s like, “Lilly used the potty today like a big girl” (her kid always uses the potty on her own these days) “Jesse threw up all over me. Eww” “Ow, my boobs hurt from breast feeding” “These kids are screaming today!” “Lilly ate her peas!” “Heading to the doctor, Lilly is sick again” “Going in for diabetes testing!” …….Dude, I don’t care. It’s not necessary.

And then there’s the “I just finished my 30th day of T25, here’s my pic of me in a bikini! Finally into size 2 pants! #shakeology #fitness #workout #T25 #lookinggood” or “Sunrise Yoga! Namaste! – At Charm City Yoga”…..

    …….Yep. Every day.

ETA: I suppose, though, that I’m guilty of posting things about my wedding (like asking for opinions about wines and beers to serve cuz we’re not really into it, and that annoying ‘Omg we’re picking out our wedding bands today!’ post). So I’m an offender too…:P!

@Omgbunnies:  This made me laugh so hard! There’s a few people I can think of doing this to!!

I was on a weight-loss kick a couple years back and was really gung-ho about it on Myfitnesspal.com (which is a great tool)! But I was so gung-ho that I started to get burnt out and eventually slipped back into my old habits.  So this time I’m taking it slow, trying to work out and eat healthy but not make it the centerpiece of my life.  That’s why it make me roll my eyes when people post about it on Facebook all the time…it’s like they’re looking for validation.

But I don’t spend too much time there these days anyway, and I know they have the right to post whatever they want, so I just roll my eyes and move on.

@Cory_loves_this_girl:  one of my friends posts about every single meal she eats and she posts every time she goes to the gym how great/sweaty/satisfying the trip was. Funny thing is shes never losing weight.

@icanhearyousmile:  Oh, the cryptic ones drive me nuts. They’re always writing something like “sometimes I just expect too much….” or “today is a sad day….” just begging for comments, but then if someone asks them what’s wrong, they go “don’t want to talk about it” or “not on FB”. WELL WHY DID YOU WRITE IT THEN.

@littlebeanpole:  Omg yessssss!! She has an ex husband and two kids with him and I guess he hasn’t been stepping up to the plate, but you’d think that after 5 years split up, you would stop expecting stuff. And I know she has been dating other people so I always wonder if she’s talking about ex flings or her ex hubs not taking care of her kids or what…It’s like OMG STOOOOP!!

@icanhearyousmile:  So true, I recently hid this girl’s posts for the same exact reason. I guess she’s going through troubles with her husband and she keeps posting cryptic statuses about it.

I freaking hate it when people do that!!

I never post cryptic statuses. It’s annoying as hell and I also don’t want everyone knowing my business.

I only try to post funny, entertaining statuses. Hopefully no one has hidden me from their news feed yet!

    @Cory_loves_this_girl:  +100.

For eff’s sake, people – lots of people work about and eat healthily. You’re nothing special. And for those of us who don’t work out and eat healthily as much as we should, you’re just making us feel like s**t.

@Cory_loves_this_girl:  Numerous friends that do this! When I downloaded MFP, I didn’t want it to link to my Facebook. I don’t want any workout stuff on Facebook. I think it would be much better to do the healthy eating/exercise in secret, then have people see you and go ‘wow, you look great! What have you been doing with yourself?’ rather than clog up everyone’s news feed with every single activity you’re doing!

Annoying?  Yes, sometimes.  But you can put anything you want on your FB page.  If someone doesn’t like it, you can remove it from your newsfeed with one click.  Problem solved.  Perhaps this person posts this much as a form of accountability and motivation.  I can find it annoying to see too, but it also reminds me of how much I need to work on myself in terms of diet and exercise, which is a good thing.  Certainly a lot better than some other asinine posts out there in FB.

I’d rather read fitness posts from friends than see a picture of a very impoverished kid with the picture caption “don’t waste food”.

They don’t bother me though. While it is good for their personal tracking, it’s a good reminder to be more active myself.

Once in a while, I sign out of Facebook for weeks at a time. Facebook vacations are the best. It gets tiring trying to keep up with so many mini-updates. I’d rather meet up with them or arrange to run together.

So, there’s this girl I graduated with (and stopped talking to when she made fun of my haircut and then spilled Sprite on my Nintendo 64 when we were in elementary school) who talks about working out incessantly because she is now a yoga instructor. She’s always asking if people want to join her class. Ugh. This is what I think:
