Maybe you could basically tell him that you want him to feel good for the wedding, and that you want to be able to be married sooner so that you can support him more?  And see what he thinks?  You know him best.  Best wishes to you both

I’m so sorry to hear you both are dealing with this. If I was in this situation I would definitely move up the wedding. I think just approach the issue from the standpoint of being there to help and take care of him. That being married will better allow you to do this.

I can’t even begin to imagine what you’re going through. we just found out my mother is dealing with cancer for the fourth time so we were also thinking it might be a possibility to move up our date. My mother didn’t want us to… so right now we are just waiting to see how things progress with a surgery scheduled for this summer. We are to be married August 4th 2012. I know it’s not the same thing at all, but I just want you to know that I’m praying for you, and if you ever need someone to vent to, feel free to send me a pm.

How about run to the courthouse for all of the legal reasons, but still plan a ceremony for August 18th?
