I am the one that messes up all the photographs for us.  So I will tell you that it really sucks to be the one who does, and that you should probably go easy on him.  =(

My fella is way more comfortable being the photographer than the photagraphee. I’ve just gotten used to it, although he knows on wedding day I’m hell bent on having at least one really wonderful shot of the two of us and another of us with the wedding party.  He’s accepted that he’s going to have to suck it up and sit still for however many shots it takes to get those, and I’ve agreed that if he does that, I’ll let him off the hook for the rest of the day; if we get some good candid shots, it’s just a bonus but I won’t be dragging him in front of the camera all day.

We both notorious photobombers.  lol  Fortunately, I made sure to get a wedding photographer who is has a photo journalistic approach so he’ll be able to snap candid shots. Maybe this is something your photographer can help you with?

Fi is a squinter! It was almost impossible to get him to relax enough to take decent engagement pictures. Some of my favorites are ones where he was laughing though. Just prepare some jokes to make him laugh.

YES!!  He is so nervous about our first look because he’s afraid he’ll mess up the picture.

Ahahahah at this: I have fears that our wedding album will look like it should be titled “happy girl marries local mental patient.’

Fiance always looks surprised when he gets his picture taken. He raises his eyebrows and makes this really weird smirk. I don’t know WHY he does that, but I will say that our photographers got him to relax and we have really fabulous engagement photos!!

Yeah.  Thankfully for him I look awful in pictures as well so in our album we both look like two mental patients who escaped to the chapel.

@mnp:  We are both terrible picture takers as well.  I am looking at the photojournalist style myself, hoping that helps with a lot of the problem!

My fiance always cocks his head to the side.  He says its because he has a giraffe neck.

Nope. Darling Husband always takes amazing photo’s………. I am usually the one that looks like I am drunk/crazy/pms-ing.  Chances are he know’s that he doesn’t photograph well, so you don’t need to mention it to him.  The only thing I can recommend is that you find a photographer that you (especially him) are both comfortable with, it will make a big difference.

If that doesn’t work, make sure you have a mini-flask on hand for him… it might help!

Yes!  My Fiance blinks in every. single. picture.  He says it’s because he has such fast reactions- way to put a positive spin on it.  Yet another reason why I am willing to shell out for a professional photographer.

Anyone else read this and think of “The One with the Engagement Picture” where Chanlder can’t smile? Hilarious!
