Hi @linnylou_88:  My first marriage was like that… we were fresh faced University Grads… and just starting out.

We rented a car… and then we took some of the money we had given to us Wedding Presents to go on our Honeymoon.

We did a fun little road trip.  Had a wonderful time.

Any idea what you’d like to do if you have some cash as the date gets closer ?

$ 1000, $ 2000, $ 3000 or more ?

Your WBee Profile says “London”… can I ask which London… UK or Ontario ?

Tell us more about you and maybe we can brainstorm some ideas for you.

I am a Travel Nut in so much as Mr TTR & I are both semi-retired…

Unfortunately I haven’t been to Europe yet (hope to soon as Retirement is official)

UK is first on our list… cannot wait to come over and see the country you call home…

Lol, we have a long list of places we want to see… figure we need at least 3 weeks maybe more to do it all.

Anyhow, I am sorry that I don’t know more to help you out… because I just am not that familiar with the UK, or even how far you could get from London for a decent holiday on $ 2000 to $ 4000

Hopefully, another Bee will be able to help you out.

In the meantime… Wink *wink*

London, Ontario… is a decent sized city in Western Ontario… and it was indeed named after London England.

I provide the following link for your reading enjoyment = http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London,_Ontario

Interesting fact, in this part of Ontario originally there were 3 cities named after European Capitals, the other 2 were Paris & Berlin… and geographically they lay in the correct order… with Berlin to the East, Paris in the middle, and London to the West.

BUT during WWI with the high loss of life of Canadian Soldiers… it was decided that Berlin would change its name to Kitchener… which is what it is known as today.

The Ontario Tri-City area… Cambridge-Kitchener-Waterloo is very pretty, and is the home to RIM (Blackberry fame) as well as a University, and it still has a large German population (including many Mennonites).  Lol, it is also home to the worlds second biggest Oktoberfest after Munich… and Canada’s Thanksgiving Day Parade all of which are celebrated concurrently in October each year.

Lol… which brings me full circle… if you had a few more bucks maybe you could come here for your Honeymoon Sealed (of course I’m only half-serious)

@linnylou_88:  I guess we planned ours with 15 days’ notice.  Is that last minute?

We decided to get married in Canada which is a 14-15 hour road trip for us.  We planned the entire trip around the wedding.  Because we did an elopement package (where they took care of everything), we put more planning into routes we were going to take.

In the end, we only officially booked 3 of our 10 nights.  The rest of the nights we just booked the day before or showed up that night at a place.  We were really encouraged by a Canadian friend here in town to NOT book every night in advance.  Maybe we wanted to stay in an area longer, or maybe we wanted to skip something.  Not booking every night in advance gave us that flexibility.

@linnylou_88:  with that amount you could a decent trip to Paris, Rome or another Europen destination. Paris is gorgeous in the autumn, and the Eurostar has some brilliant sales. Or what about Vienna, or somewhere like that? somewhere like that would fulfill good food, sight seeing, history and culture!
