Miss Pain au Chocolat’s post made me wonder about this. 7 couples RSVP’d that one partner is coming while the other isn’t. That represents fully 1/3 of our “no” responses. One has a baby and another has a scheduling conflict, but I think for most of them, it’s because airfare is so expensive right now. (Stupid high oil prices!) I don’t mind, for the most part, because most of the spouses staying home are ones that Fiance and I aren’t as close to as the one attending. But I was definitely surprised – I hadn’t realized it was a common phenomenon.

I had this happen to a few. And guess what… the other ones ended up attending. It turned out to be okay because we had some people that RSVP’d and never showed… but still!

So far 2 of my BMs will be attending without their Darling Husband and kids. I was pretty shocked and think its kinda lame. The reason the husbands aren’t going is because they can’t hang by themselves or socialize while the BMs are busy with duties. I am sad cuz we are already having a small wedding and I’ve known the husbands forever, I considered us to be close. They were on my for sure attending list. I hope others don’t follow suit.

@7-9-11bride: Oh, that sucks, I’m sorry. 🙁 I would have been more bummed if these spouses/partners were people Fiance and I were close to, but most of them we don’t know very well.
