PaperQueen : I have heard of this and I will ask about this when I see my Dr next. Glad to hear you went on to have a second baby and that you made it to 37 weeks! 🙂

MRS-K : my bff’s sister has a bicornuate uterus as well! Her first was a premie born at 32 weeks. He’s a thriving 4 year old…. she’s gone on to have two more babies after him in relatively quick succession (4, 3, and 1 are their ages). She had scheduled c-sections at 37 weeks with the second two. She just required a bit more monitoring but other than that she had totally normal pregnancies!

Cassidylouise : That is great to hear and encouraging about your friend, thanks for sharing. Yes, I already know I will be monitored more closely but maybe it will help baby #2 stay put for a bit?

MRS-K : her doctor told her because she had already had one baby her uterus would be more accommodating the second time as it had already previously been stretched out. If she wasn’t scheduled for c-sections she probably would have gone late with her last two!

Cassidylouise : Wow, hopefully this is true. My husband is telling me the second baby will come out later but I thought he doesn’t know what he is talking about, maybe he does? Lol Was your friend’s first baby born by cesarean like her others? I thought I was going to need a cesarean but my son was born vaginally. Got to the hospital at 6pm and he was born less than 2 hours later!

MRS-K : her first was born vaginally. Her water broke when she was in the Starbucks drive-thru and she had thought she had accidentally wet herself! Poor girl! She had some bad back pain though so went to the hospital where they explained she was actually in labour and dilated almost 6cm at that point.

Cassidylouise : Oh wow, my water didn’t break on its own, the Dr had to break my water but I was having contractions but I thought it was just braxton hicks because they were not that painful. When I got to the hospital I was told I was already 8cm. Now I know for the next time and will go to the hospital right away.
Also sorry to keep asking about your bff’s sister but do you know if she had any other complications with her pregnancies besides the first one coming too early? I had quite a bit of bleeding in my pregnancy and had to go to the ER twice but luckily everything turned out to be OK, not sure if it had anything to do with having a bicornuate uterus or not!

MRS-K : Try to stay positive! My Mother-In-Law had her first child, my SIL 6 weeks early due to blood pressure problems. Her other two pregnancies were carried to term, both my Fiance and Brother-In-Law were right on time!
I know doctors know more now than ever before. When we TTC I am at high risk-many women in my family have died or nearly died during birth so I will be watched very closely.

MRS-K : No problem! Ask away! She had zero complications during her pregnancy besides him coming premature. She actually had a perfect pregnancy! No symptoms really. Gained only 20 pounds. Had the cutest little bump. No bleeding issues. Her water just broke at 32 weeks because her uterus had no more room for him to grow.

hunting_bride : Yes I agree doctors know a lot more nowadays. Wow I am sorry to hear that some of the women in your family have either died or almost died during giving birth, that is so scary.
For me I was doing fine giving birth the only scary thing that happened is my son’s heartrate was dropping rapidly and when I was at 10cm trying to push him out the Dr was considering a cesarean but there wasn’t enough time. I ended up needing a vacuum and pushed as hard as I could. I only got to push 3 times and he was out. I am scared of something like this happening again, the last 10 minutes before my son was born were very intense.

MRS-K :Â Yep, me. A little different situation for us though, our daughter was born full term but with a congenital heart defect (CHD) which required open heart surgery at 5 months old to correct. 1 in 100 babies are born with a CHD, so chances are already high and increase when you already have one child with a CHD. Chances are our daughter’s was just a fluke and if we have another baby he/she wouldn’t have any issues.. but that fear of going through everything again is definitely holding us back from making that decision to have another.
I don’t have much advice, just know you’re definitely not the only one who feels that way! Best of luck in whichever you decide 🙂

My best friend has a premie (he had to be in NICU for 3 months) and when she got pregnant again she was absolutely terrified, and let her Dr know her fears. She went to a high risk dr, and I believe had to have shots weekly from a nurse that went to her house. I remember she posted at the same week mark that she had her premie and how grateful that she made it that far, so the fear lasted but she had a healthy pregnancy and ended up delivery a week after her due date to a healthy baby girl
