So I want to start this out by saying… if you don’t like or agree with stag & doe’s, please don’t hate on this thread
Our S&D is coming up in a few short months and I wanted to see how your S&D went! What were teh best games, prizes, etc. Was there anything you wish you would have done, or anything you wish you skipped? Also, how much money did you put out on everything (venue, insurance, license, prizes, food, supplies, ets), and how much did you end in paying?
Can’t wait to hear from you all!

We’re having a Jack and Jill shower. Does that count? 😛

sariibear: They are regional. When I did an exchange, people were really into them and was shocked I hadn’t heard of them before, but they just aren’t done here. I’ve known of one here, and it was because the couple had just moved here. Their sister was selling tickets, and knowing her, she had no idea just how much it looked like a cash grab.

Soon2ElopeBee: it’s basically a big party with friends, family, friends of friends, etc. They pay an admission price, I’ve seen anywhere between 5 bucks and 50 bucks (our tickets are 5), and you get food, and a ticket to the door prize with that cost. Booze, games, etc. Are all extra.
Cynderbug: I’m not sure if it would be the same since it’s a shower. is yours just a shower for men and women?
AB Bride: they definitely are regional. Where I’m from its kind of unheard of to not have one. We weren’t going to but everyone kept asking us/telling us to have one, so we thought why not! It will be nice to see everyone before the wedding, especially those friends that we aren’t able to invite to the wedding!

sariibear: I’m not sure either, but there’s no etiquette around these things. 😛
If I’m having a stagette, I’m definitely having mine at a roller disco. I think it’s more fun to do things you like individually on your own, then meet up at an agreed place later for both stag and stagette parties to meet.

Stag and Does are the norm here. Pretty much everyone who gets married has one!
The games we did/I’ve seen are:
-Find the Joker (tape a deck of cards onto bristol board, people sign the backs of the cards for $5 a card I think we did, when every card has a signature the person who signed the Joker wins – they won a gift card for a restaurant – make sure you only use one joker!)
-I forget what it’s called, but put a shot glass at the bottom of a fish bowl, fill the bowl with water. If people can drop a loonie into the shot glass they win a free drink. The loonies are all yours at the end 🙂
-Toonie Toss. Get a Texas mickey of whisky, set it at one end of the dance floor/open space. People throw toonies at the bottle. Closest toonie wins, can do multiple rounds, keeping the closest toonie there (make sure you know whose toonie it is).
-99 Red Balloons. People pay to get a balloon (or 2). Tie ribbon onto the balloons, then the people tie them to their ankles. People try to step on other people’s balloons as the song ’99 Red Balloons’ plays. Last person standing with a balloon still inflated wins a prize!
-Penalty Box. Tape off a space (the smaller the funnier!). People can pay a certain amount to put someone in the penalty box (we did a dollar per minute). They have to stand in the penalty box with no talking. They can pay to get themselves out (match what the person paid to put them in). It’s funny when there’s like 10 guys in this tiny space just standing there not able to talk! haha.
-Pie In the Face. We had 2 jars on the bar, one with my name and one with my husband’s name. People can put money in the person’s jar that they’d like to see get a pie in the face. The person with the most money in their jar at the end of the night gets a pie in the face (courtesy of the significant other :))
That’s all I can think of for now! What games do you have so far?
