My periods are usually 9 days. Most friends I’ve talked to about it have theirs for 3-5 days. It’s not fair!
After the first 3 days, it’s not very heavy, but it’s still annoying to deal with it for more than a week. I’ve been on birth control for about a year and 2 months and it hasn’t done much when it comes to my period whatsoever.
Anyone else here have long periods?

Mines is usually 7 days but only the first 2 days are heavy, the other days are spotting so its not that bad.

Mine used to be very long. In fact, at one point, my period just wouldn’t frigging stop, which is why I got on birth control in the first place.
Have you talked to your doctor about switching? I had to switch twice before I found something that actually worked for me. My periods aren’t wonderful, but I know when they are and I don’t have mind-numbing cramps anymore.

I feel your pain, mine is 7-9 days. Although for awhile I was on Loestrin, it shortened my period to 3 days and was AMAZING! Right now I’m pregnant and hoping that my cycle gets to be not so horrible once that’s over.

@pokie45: Have you gotten looked at by an OBGYN? Long periods can be a sign of endometriosis.

@misskittenn: I have thought about switching, but it has done amazing things for my skin, so I’m afraid to go off of my current birth control for that reason alone. My periods are very regular. I start on the same day every month and I only get some cramps on the first and maybe second day.
@zerlina: Just looked that up — I don’t have any of the other symptoms. My periods aren’t painful or anything — so I guess I should be thankful for that! But yes, I went to the OBGYN last year and everything was healthy. I have another appt next month, so I shall mention it.

Mine is 6 days long, every month like clockwork (I’m on the pill). That being said, they are much lighter than they used to be. I only have 1-2 “heavy” days which are nowhere near as heavy as they used to be before BC and the rest are just light, but steady, trickle days.

Mine usually lasts between 5-7 days (depends on the month sometimes they are only 3 days). The first 2 days are heavy and then just a light period or spotting after. Usually its just my first day or two that I have the cramping and am miserable too. I found when I was on BC that my periods were actually worse. I would bleed anywhere from 9-12 days and I would get my periods about every 2-3 weeks. I finally just got off BC.
