Hubs and I moved to middle of nowhere South Dakota for our job. The weather here is awful. Snowy, windy, and freezing! Plus we have been sick during our entire Christmas break. I’m literally sitting up in my bed as I write, with a wad of toilet paper up one nostril, and breathing out of my mouth. lol. We’ve been off since the 19th and go back to work on the 5th. We have not left the house for more than 10 mins. (to do a mandatory errand or pick up food).
I know…1st world problems right?
I’m a little bummed. I miss the good old days when I’d go out with a big group of friends and have a fun night. My family also celebrated New Years by getting together. I just turned 26 last week so maybe I’m just feeling old. Ha. It doesn’t help that we spent Christmas by ourselves too.
Any ideas????!?!?!? Feeling cray cray over here.

Honey, you’re sick! I’m not sure what great ideas I can give you when what you need is rest!
But I hear you. We’re staying in as well because we’re broke. I’m going ot have to get off my lazy butt in a minute and go find some cheap bubbly. We also stashed away a bag of doritos and somd salso for our Posh Snack. I know that sounds crazy, but we live in Prague and Doritos are NOT usual.
WE’re going to watch movies and make popcorn, and hopefully watch stellar fireworks from our giant windows. Though looking at the totally overcast sky….. maybe not so much. But I do plan on getting dressed up for Fiance.
Can you guys have a private dance party? ๐

My plans:
New Year’s Eve – work, then go to bed at 9 because…
New Year’s Day – I have to get up at 5 to go to work again.

Here, here! We have my kids this new years eve. We usually travel to a friends for the night to their party. It’s about 45 mintues away. We spend the night. As much as I love my kids, I just don’t want to drag them over there, (there will be other kids there), and I don’t want them stuck sleeping there. AND I want to sleep in my OWN bed. I probably wouldn’t drink anyways, and end up tempting to drive everyone home if we do go. So I’d be LAME. Ugh….

Just brought in the new year here in Australia, by drinking vodka and cranberry juice, while snooping wedding bee posts, and watching Star Trek Voyager (worst star trek series ever, cannot stand Janeway) Must say one of the most uneventful new years to date.

Darling Husband and I are having a handful of people over, but definitely not going out to do anything crazy! The roads are scary with drunk drivers and I have no interest in using public transit to get around on NYE! We’ll stay in, drink in the comfort of our own house, and pig out on yummy food!

We’re staying in and making special pizzas – carmelized onions, bacon and pineapple, tomato and parmesean cheese. We also picked up hummus and pita chips.
We also picked up a bottle of champagne and a six-pack of beer.
This is going to sound a bit lame, but we’re going to clean our apartment while we cook – it’s a pig sty and Chinese culture dictates no cleaning on New Year’s Day. Fiance is half Chinese and REALLY sticks to that one. It’s also a superstition that the whole house should be clean on New Year’s day, so at least I won’t wake up to a mess in 2014. Maybe.
I figure we’ll wear something totally fun (a going-out out fit? something sexy?) while we clean and cook – just for the hell of it. (you BET I will be wearing/breaking in my wedding shoes haha)
I’m so excited! It’s going to be so fun staying in and goofing off with him. ๐
PS – I was recently sniffly/sore throat sick but ate (ok this is kind of weird) a grated clove of raw garlic in a cup of rice (I was hungry, wanted to test a new gadget, and lazy – excellent combo) yesterday and felt SO MUCH better after all that burning hahaha
PPS – I JUST TURNED 26 LAST WEEK TOO!! Happy Holiday b-days!! ๐

I’m 22, which is supposed to mean that I go out and rage on NYE, right? WRONG. Fiance and I are not all that into this holiday (read: really, really not into it). To many drunks on the road, and alcohol becomes entirely too expensive where we are tonight. Plus, having a pup with severe separation anxiety means leaving it not as easy as it used to be (great excuse, too). So we are going to have a few like-minded friends over, drink some shots from our undergrad when we became friends, and ring in the new year in a mellow, and to me, super enjoyable, way. Also, after all the Christmas parties, I’m in need of a good, quiet night in. I’m truly an old lady in a young woman’s body. Happy New Year everybody!

@prahajess: Prague sounds so dreamy right now. LET’S TRADE!!!! Haha. : ) Sadly, although hubs is fun to be around, he doesn’t dance much–and he doesn’t drink at all. Boooo. Speaking of Doritos, have you tried the new Salsa Verde doritos? I’m not into Doritos but YUMMM those are goooooood.
@Aquaria: lame new year for the win! YAY US.
@rickhurst35: yeah I don’t blame you. Plus, driving on New Years is so unsafe. People get crazy. We even considered driving to the nearest city to spend the night there but the 2hr drive seems impossible in this snow. Extra unsafe. AND our new mattress is being delivered tomorrow out of all days. What a buzz kill.
@LeahTron: uh oh, better review your post history tomorrow! You never know what kind of craziness the vodka will make you type! ๐
@aliciaspinnet: sounds like me last year!

I am sick as well with no voice. I may be going over DH’s family’s house for NYE, but I doubt I will stay awake. Oh not to mention I can’t drink due to being preggers. I would much rather stay at home and go to bed early, but Darling Husband wants to go out…

@LuluInLove: Neither of us see the appeal in going out on NYE and getting drunk and all that. Never have done that and probably never will. But if it’s not too cold, we’re going skating outdoors since the rinks will be open. It’s also supposed to snow a bit. Skating outdoors in the snow with FH sounds pretty awesome to me and not lame at all!

@MrsGolden2Bee: aww, I hope you feel better!!! Btw this is random, I don’t know if you are congested or not but I just watched some youtube videos on sinus pressure points and gave myself a 20 minute facial massage. I FELT SO MUCH BETTER. It works! Just a tip : )
@abbie017: Yep! Totally agree. Now picture drunk drivers on icy snowy roads….yep.
@CakeyP: We’ve been sick which is code for “it’s ok to be a slob”. I feel like the little girl from the movie Signs. There are glasses with water EVERYWHERE. lol.
Does he also celebrate Chinese New Year? I spent the year of the ox in China (fujian) and it was soooooOOOOO awesome.
I’m half Chilean/Colombian and infuse my rice with garlic all the time : )
That actually sounds like fun!! Side note: OUR OVEN BROKE YESTERDAY WHILE MAKING PIZZA! The digital screen thingy says “sensor error” so after about 10 minutes in the over our pizza was pitch black and hard like a brick. We’ll have to wait for our landlord to take care of it. We were both so bummed. Home made pizza is the best.
