Hey everyone – friendly reminder that talking about CUSTOM projects on weddingbee is okay. Talking about replicas or knockoffs and naming the brands that you’re replicating is not. So far this thread looks okay but I just wanted to remind everyone of the rules so we can keep this open!

Mine was custom, great experience!

We actually had my original engagement ring remade by a local jeweler that does custom rings. The original was made by Jared and I ended up not being able to deal with the poor quality (crappy pavé diamonds, smushed miligrain, hollowed-out gallery). We brought the original to the jeweler, they put together a CAD drawing for my approval, then 3D printed a wax mold for my approval, and finally cast the ring itself. It turned out perfect and I am SO much happier with my new ring. I always loved the way it looked, just couldn’t stand Jared’s poor workmanship!

Going custom was actually a disaster for me. It’s a long story, but it can be summed up by saying this–avoid using Enchanted Diamonds for a custom setting. We bought a diamond I absolutely love from them, but the custom ring was a straight disaster.
It took nearly 6 months, two awful rings, a crooked diamond and whole lot of grief before we asked for our money back and went to David Klass. David produced exactly what we wanted in two-ish weeks at a much higher quality AND for less money.
This was the first attempt. It took 4 months. You can see the trellis vines are too big and “kiss” underneath. I never saw it in person, but it was apparently pretty bad.
This was the second attempt, after we reset the diamond and sent the ring back. It’s tough to see, but the trellis vines are supposed to cross over each other and hold the diamond, but instead mush into a sad little spork. David also informed us that the diamond was set completely crooked and was not sufficiently supported by the prongs.
And this is David’s work. He was super quick and everything about the construction significantly better.

I created a frankenring, taking elements I liked from rings way out of my budget and created my own photoshop image with sizes and specifications that I wanted.
The entire process took about 4 weeks including my own design time. Three weeks to actually be made (I saw no CADs or molds since they were making the ring I specifically wanted) and it couldn’t have gone better. It was beautifully done, I was wildly happy and I have something that’s 100% unique.

Thanks! I love it too. It took a lot of time but it was worth it.

I have a custom ering and band.
Picture of ring I found online
sketch from my jeweler
With custom made wedding band
I love the fact that i was able to participate on the process. I did not see the mold not final product until my fiancé proposed to me. I loved the process of a custom made piece of jewelr.

sniping personal commentary in public when it has nothing to do with the OP’s post won’t get you very far dear. Feel free to send me a PM if you want to discuss your dislike of my belt lol.

I wouldnt worry about her comment. She has a snide remark on almost every post. She describes herself everytime as that “brutal honest friend”

I had my ering custom made. I gave 3 pictures for references and my center stone. After an hour consult in person he made a computer rending rather then 3d molding. Then about 1 month later the ring was ready for pick up. Below are the renderings and then a couple pictures so show the finished ring.

Oh wow! I’m glad he was able to change it. I really appreciate the mold picture! She showed us a mold example she had on hand. >.> Is it too girly/childish that I hope it’s purple and not orange like the one we saw lol? Haha. But moving along…that is really neat how you reused your grandmother’s ring! I never would of even thought of that. What an awesome story to have behind it.
I have an old antique sapphire and diamond ring that was passed down. It’s really old and wasn’t kept in great condition. The band is bent and a few smaller diamonds missing. One day I want to have it restore..I just hope they can keep the original metal for sentimental reasons. 🙂
This gives me hope.
Glad to see so many positive experiences and that I’m not the only one feeling like time is moving so slow lol.
It’s very beautiful! It looks very nice on your finger. 🙂 Bummer about the drawings! I bet they’re very interesting to see! I’m glad you shared the ring though!
