We recently decided to not only honeymoon, but to wed in the Virgin Islands. I’m finding several resorts and a few inclusive packages, but not sure which is the better option.
Anyone else doing a Destination Wedding there, if so, which island and what have you found in researching your wedding??

We are getting married on St. Croix in December. I decided on St. Croix because we didn’t want to do the super touristy stuff that is on St. Thomas. We plan on staying at a condo resort so we can prepare our own meals and since there are multi-room options friends and family can stay together and save $$. From my research, if you want to do all-inclusive, you should stick with St. Thomas. St. John is good if you want to go ‘green’. There are plenty of hotels that offer wedding packages on all three islands. There are also plenty of wedding planners too. I decded to go against having one and have just found an officiant on my own, we are preparing food ourselves, and I’m DIY hair, makeup, flowers, etc. Good luck planning!

We are getting married in St. Thomas USVI, but we are taking a cruise there. So we will be having our wedding on the Island and the reception back on the ship later that evening. bestdestinationweddings.com has a ton of great information about having weddings in the USVI, be sure to check it out!:)

Thanks guys!! I’ve researched a lot – I’m finding the same. I think we’re leaning towards Sapphire Beach on St. Thomas now. Three nights at the Sapphire Beach Resort for lots of pampering and 5 nights at a condo down the beach for cheaper rates, and less traffic for the rest of our honeymoon. We’re planning to move there in appx 5 or more years, so we also want to get out and about to check out some local and inland (if theres really such a thing in the USVI) scene.
I’ve been on bestdestinationweddings.com – I actually found a lot of great info on there this past weekend. Another bee suggested it and I agree – lots of great info!
@MrsWilson2012: Are you working with a company for all of the details?

@MrsGibby2Bee: Yes, I am working with Janelle from Island Bliss weddings, check it out, islandblissweddings.com. She has been awesome so far with responding to my questions and giving me a ton of great options for the ceremony. We originally were going to have the reception in St. Thomas as well but thought it would be easier for guests if it was back on the ship. We are getting married at Lindquist beach, because we absolutely love the blue water and pretty white sand. That is so awesome that you guys plan on moving there in the future! Sapphire Beach is very pretty too. 🙂

My cousin got married at the Wyndym Sugar Bar St. Thomas and while the wedding a fabulous we were not impressed with the resort as a whole! Just a heads up. 🙂

@MrsKevyChevy: Thank you very much for the heads up! That’s what I am concerned about!
@MrsWilson2012: Awesome!! I looked at their site -looks very reasonable and has everything you could ask for!
We’ve decided to go with a woman named Juliana – she has a condo that she rents with a honeymoon/wedding package. Does photography, helps w/ transportation for courthouse paperwork, and the weddings are done on the beach just outside of the condo… We’ve got a month before we can put the deposit down and we’re hoping it doesnt get taken in that time, and it might very well happen, so I’m keeping Island Bliss as an alternative should that be the case.

We’re getting married in St. Thomas…. and we chose Marriott Frenchman’s Reef for our ceremony. Neither of us is crazy about the beach so we’re using their little garden gazebo area… we went to see it while on a cruise in February– that’s where he proposed! :o)

I just got back from a wedding at Bolongo Bay on St. Thomas. It was so much fun! I don’t have much to offer since I didn’t have anything to do with the planning. But Sapphire Beach was beautiful and it supposed to have great snorkeling!
Best wishes! x

@TheMrs2013: I defintiely will! We’re thinking nonresort as an option.. it’s a hard decision to make!!! I just found a photographer in our area that I am simply in love with, who will be coming with us… yaaaaaaaaaay!!!! And now the planning commences =) I’ll do a recap and update in here.

I got married in St. Thomas at a secluded West End beach. And we did our reception at a private villa. I used Blue Sky Ceremony and they were so helpful. Mike (the husband) was my officiant, and Amber (his wife) was my cordinator and it was a perfect day.
