Heres the thing—–
We have the money, we can afford it.
I want to have a small wedding. and spend less than 20k. Period. I would like to spend 5k…why the he’ll not?!?! We own a home together, and we both see new Windows. Or a new driveway. Or a deck. But for some reason he wants this big elaborate 30 grand wedding that just seems like. Waste. Am I the only one+

Definitely not! We’re only planning on spending $5,000, but I’m still seeing rent payments and electric bills every time I get a price list from a venue or caterer. I begged my Fiance to elope, but he wants a wedding too. Ugh. To me it’s money we might as well just be burning.

We are doing a small destination wedding/honeymoon for 8K. Funny that it’s him who wants the big wedding. Any particular reason why he does? You should do a pro and a con and include stuff like what you need. Of course you could have a big wedding. Ask everyone to donate Home Depot or Lowes cards and get that new deck too. LOL

BOSOXfan07: Spend the money on home improvements first, then plan the wedding with less money lol. My husband was actually kind of the same way, he wanted the traditional wedding with all his friends/family, me in a white dress, flowers, etc. We ended up coming to a compromise and spending around $12k for 3 hosted events (welcome dinner, wedding reception, thank you brunch). My general rule was to spend 25% or less of what we had in savings on luxuries (i.e. weddings).

We had a $10,000 wedding and even then it felt like SO much money! It was all worth it in the end, and I wouldn’t have done it any other way.. but yeesh, I didn’t even spend that much on my car!

- Wedding: January 2015 - Banquet Hall
Luckily we both want a very low budget wedding. I estimate our wedding to cost around $800. We can afford more but we dont need to. Anything more is a waste of money, in our opinion 🙂
