I have been hooked on Anita Baker’s new song, “Lately,” ever since I first heard it. I downloaded it a few days ago and have been playing it over and over. I love the melody and words, but if you listen to it carefully, she is singing about how she loves this person but sometimes forgets to tell him how she feels (and I believe she also means that sometimes she forgets how he feels).
So my question is this, would this be an appropriate song to incorporate into a wedding reception somewhere? I would love this song as one of the dance songs as it’s beautiful with a wonderful melody and nice tempo, but does this song come across to anyone as negative in any way? It’s such a beautiful song and it would certainly be perfect for a vow renewal (for a couple who have been together for many years). Thoughts?
