- Wedding: August 2013 - Rocky Mountains USA
I LOVE THIS THREAD! @Rachel631: , that invite is so effing hilarious. @sofiekitty, I love your e-pix and all those details!
I’m a crazy cat lady without any cats 🙁 I’ve been obsessed with them my whole life – had a gazillion kitten posters on my wall as a kid, begged my parents every year for kitties until we (hooray!) got some. But sadly I haven’t been able to have any cats for like 12 years now because my work and advanced education has made me really mobile (sometimes living in a tent for work as a biologist, etc).
BUT, we bought a house recently and are fairly settled down, so I’m pretty sure my Fiance is getting me/us 2 or 3 kittens as my wedding present! YESSSSSSS!!!

I don’t really like cats (sorry) but I just wanted to say I totally lol’ed at “calling all cat ladies!”

@Rachel631: Aww that’s funny that he’s such a cuddler!! And how nice of you To rescue all of your cats. I rescued mine too 🙂 And by the way, there are many indoor/outdoor cats here in the US as well. Mine happen to be indoor cats but they have always just been that way.
How exciting!! That would be such a great wedding gift! I really hope you get those kitties!

@lolot: SQUEE! Getting your first proper animal is awesome. My Dad wouldn’t let me have animals growing up. I kept asking though, and one day he saw an opportunity to make me stop asking.
My goldfish died, and my Dad chose to lie to me and tell me that he got hungry one day and ate it. He then said that I couldn’t have a cat or a dog, because he couldn’t promise me that he wouldn’t get hungry one day and eat them, and then I would be upset if that happened, so it was kinder for me not to have one. I was five at the time, and I believed him.
Therefore, I only got my first cat when I was about to go and work abroad a few years back. She was a present from Fiance. The other two were strays I found abroad and imported back home!
On a different note, I’m hoping to get the lifesize cardboard cutouts of my cats which I am using as wedding decor today!

@Rachel631: I want to see these life size cutouts!! That is so awesome!!!

@sofiekitty: Remind me and I’ll post later. I can’t post now because they’re in the “wedding room”… which is like Miss Haversham’s mansion… full of booze, glassware, linens… and a load of print outs glued to a board, on which the glue is still drying. Oh. and a giant set of 2 ft plus high chess pieces… I wasn’t kidding when I said my brain is like Katy Perry Video central….
I can’t let the cats in that room… I’d never frind them again! I’ll wait until they’re all out to take pics…
Lots of printing places do A3 printouts from USB… you just have to cut the printouts, glue them to a board, and make a stand. Easy peasy!

This is amazing! I love it! My fiacne keeps wanting to have out cat as our ring bearer and I have to keep reminding him that our cat is an indoor cats and doesn’t like big crowds and that my dad (we’re having the wedding in his backyard) is allergic! Maybe I’ll make him a little kitty charm for his bout!

You can’t really tell, but that’s two A2 boards on top of a double bed, drying. Once they’re dry, I’ll cut them out and make stands for them. Also, in case you didn’t believe me… here’s some of the giant chess pieces!

So we’re having cake pops for our favors, and the woman who makes them is awesome, and does cat shaped ones! So….we’re having them done in the colors of our boys. Vader is a tuxedo, so it’ll be a black cat with a white bow tie since he’s got a white spot at the base of his neck, and Tae is a snowshoe Siamese, so his will show off his points, and he’ll have the white bow tie too. We’re also thinking of incorporating them into the cake topper somehow. I’m half Japanese, and black cats are lucky anyway, so we were considering a pair of maneki nekos for a topper – one black and one with the Siamese points.
I’m a crazy cat lady…..

@pocketfox: Ha! I love the cake idea!

@sofiekitty: oh my gosh. I can’t not put into words how much I love the look on that cats face. So. Prefect.

@Rachel631: OMG awesome!!! That is so cool!!
OMG I’m a half Japanese crazy cat lady too!! That’s me in the Katy Perry costume on page 1 of this thread LOL. I promise I look much more normal usually. We are doing cake pops too! I should have ordered them like yours!! Post pics if you can! I’d love to see them!! What’s your other half by the way? Mine is Danish…
That’s so sweet that your fiance loves your kitty so much!!! So sweet!! I was thinking of having my fiance wear this pin on his boutonnier:

I love this thread! My Fiance and I are both crazy cat people and really wanted to include our cat in our wedding somehow (like this? not our cat)
However our cat would HATE that, so we have put lots of pics of him on our wedding website and that’s about the extent of it!

@sofiekitty: We’re not actually engaged yet, so I just have ve some things I played around with on our computer. I can post them when I get on there (I’m on my iPad now)
Thanks, my SO’s the one who suggested it.

@sofiekitty: I love those table numbers too, have them pinned! We’re having a small-ish guest list so I was thinking we could do a table (and matching painting or sketch) named after each kitty, past and present.
It’s so true what you say about cats getting a bad rap for being aloof or mean, when so often it’s because they’ve been mistreated. I see the saddest little kitties around our apartment, the are tons of strays around because nobody bothers to desex their cats here. We try to feed them (I’m the crazy cat lady who carries around ’emergency’ cat food in my purse in case I run into a stray) but it’s hard because I basically have to leave the food and back away 20 metres before they come out.
In contrast, our cat Daisy is the biggest tart who solicits pats and scratches (and food) from anyone who visits our house. Once she left the apartment with the pizza delivery guy, who then had to carry her back because she tried to get into the elevator with him.
Fiance and I are pretty shameful when it comes to breaching that trust (and destroying her dignity, haha). We have put her in bow ties, baby-sized striped tees and even wedged a piece of white bread around her head to replicate the bread cat meme.
