(Closed) Anyone else like their ering alone? I don't want to wear a wedding band!

I can't wait to wear my wedding band!! Or love wearing it, if married.

I could take it or leave it.

    I prefer my ering alone.

I’ve decided to do one ring because it’s already a lot of bling.  Adding one matching band and it looks funny and would almost need two wide pave diamond bands and that’s just WAY WAY too much for me.

Fiance actually found the wedding band he wanted when we were ering shopping we’re wearing both as erings and plan to reexchange the same rings to make them our wedding rings.

I really like the way my ering looks alone and offered to not have a wedding band so that we could save a little money.  But DH really wanted me to have one and it didn’t bother me to have one, so I do have one.  Now I am glad I have one because of what it symbolizes to us.

@Pele:  That is the biggest ring I think I’ve ever seen! How many carats?

I like my ering all by itself.  Part of the reason I like it so much is due to the shape of it.  I never really like the tracer bands and I would need a custom tracer due to the shape or an enhancer.  Since I wasn’t in love with the idea of adding on to my ring I didn’t want to spend the money on something custom.  So I actually am going with a ring handed wedding band.

I love the side profile of my ring, plus I have small fingers (4.5) and I think anything else will just be too much for my tastes.

@red_pepper_gal:  Total carat weight is about 1.8 and the center 1.  Sides are .2s.

I purposely chose a subtle band that will hopefully compliment the e-ring and not steal any of its thunder. I was set on the plainest band I could find and ironically when I wore a completely plain band with my e-ring it kind of took away from the beauty of it.

Your ring is very pretty, and I don’t think you’re crazy! My mom felt the same way, and never bothered with a wedding band. An alternative, if you still want a wedding band in some form, would be to get one to wear on your right hand. That’s the traditional way of wearing a band in most other countries.

@junesommers:  Your e-ring is so pretty!!  Perhaps a simple pave diamond wedding band that matches your e-ring band would be nice and not distract from the e-ring?

I love my e-ring and band together–they’re a set.  However, my band by itself looks like it’s missing something, since it’s shaped to fit the diamond from the e-ring.  So when we have kids and I don’t want a sharp rock sticking out, I’m thinking a nice, smooth, simple wedding band will be perfect.

I’m starting to wonder about getting a wedding band.  I went and looked at some, but my ring is shaped so that there will be a gap on either the front or the back.  On the inside of my hand, the band is very thin, but on the back of my hand it is about 3 times thicker.  So if the bands touch on the inside, there will be a gap on the back of my hand, or if they touch on the back, there will be a big gap inside.  Hard to explain, so here’s a picture of the side of my ring (in terrible cell phone quality!)

I think it’s a smart idea to only wear one ring. There is really no need for 2. My grandma only had one and a jeweler told us that’s a recent thing invented by jewelers to get more repeat business (ie you have to come back and get the matching band now!).

I can’t wait to wear my wedding band. I actually tried on a ring similar to yours & couldn’t find a wedding band that I loved with it. If I had a halo I probably wouldn’t wear a wedding band.

I wore my three stone halo ring alone, I couldn’t find a band that looked good with it.

I’ve always wanted a set, so now I have a whole new set and this is a RHR, but it totally did the job as a “lone ring”.
